Our tactics from the very start put us on the back foot. No width what so ever, it was just painful to watch.

I feel fucking terrible after watching that dribble. Fairplay to Spurs for being the better side and they should of won by more.

Gutted, absolutely fucking gutted.

MY VIEWS ON TONIGHTS GAME?? ERM LET ME THINKKKK SHIIIIIIIIIITE WE MADE THEM LOOK LIKE BRAZIL

FOR A TEAM SUPPOSEDLY LOOKING TO CHALLENGE FOR 4th TO HAVE 1 SHOTUP UNTIL LIKE THE 70th MINUTE IS ONE OF THE MOST APPALING THINGS I'VE EVER SEEN

FORMATION MADE NO SENSE ATALL, EVERY ATTACK CAME THROUGH THE MIDDLE STRAIGHT INTO THERE BACK LINE

IM GLAD ADE IS FUCKING OFF BACK TO AFRICA HOPEFULLY WHEN HE COMES BACK IN FEB WE'LL HAVE A NEW STRIKER TO MOTIVATE HIS LAZY ASS

THIS JUST SHOULDN'T HAPPEN TO A TEAM WITH OUR QUALITY, WE WERE COMPLETY USELESS NO ONE TURNED UP

Spurs have Plan A (give it to Lennon) and Plan B (long ball > Crouch > Defoe). They scored from both tonight and won at a canter.

Our 'formation' was terrible. Sylvinho cannot be at full match fitness and yet we played a flat front three and three central midfielders. Granted SWP and Bellamy were missing but they're not the only players we have who're capable of playing out wide. It was all very poorly planned.

Hughes' substitutions boggled as well. Credit RSC for his work rate but that substitution only served to exacerbate the above.

Ignoring the handball, which wouldn't have mattered anyway, I thought Wiley did well all round too.

I disagree. The 'Defence' was left totally over exposed by a naive and poorly executed game plan. A TEAM defends, you know, not just the back four.

Last time i was this dissapointed after a game we lost 8-1! This was embarrassing pathetic spineless drivel! The shit i had afterwards was more entertaining! It certainly took more effort to produce than adebayor put in today!

maybe we are overating the players signed by hughes, more than half his team could not hold down a first team place with their previous clubs

Toure and adebayor.= Both out of favour at arsenal
Bridge and swp = Both out of favour at chelsea
Robinho = out of favour at real
Tevez = out of favour at scum
Rsc = injury prone
Sylvinho = out of favour at barca

Total bollox..One of the worse posts ive ever read..

Toure was not for sale until we put a big offer in
Ade..Yes he had probs at Arse
Robson..Yup he was a sub when we signed him but there was more to him bein a sub in the 1st place wasnt there?
Tevez..Rags offered same price as we bought him for? Wasnt guaranteed a place in there 1st 11 so he fucked off ..
RSC is over his injuries and is fit?
Sylvinho....Was one of the best players in Chumps league final against rags....Abit old at 35 but a worthy backup to Bridge when unjured.
Your makin out that every one of these players have been a mistake? ffs

i thought we were maybe a bit unlucky. i thought on the whole we were good value for money. And there were some decisions that went against us that maybe shouldn't have that turned the game a little, but all in all i think on our day we'll give anyone a game, and today maybe we just lacked that little bit of something extra that would have turned it into a sitaution where we could have earned some points. But on the whole i think the team worked hard and showed what we're made of. Maybe their second goal was lucky and their third was just a blatant mistake we need to take the blame for, but the scoreline probably does us a bit of a disservice.

etc etc etc...

anyone seen the post-match interview yet? im sure it's not too far from that.
EDIT: he actually says we sucked donkey balls in his post-match interview. My bad.

My thoughts were that it was a fuclin horrible joke. We looked scared, confused and just not really ready. Clearly a dressing room that isn't in support of the gaffer...plain and simple. Running scared, indecisive and inconsiderate.

Why we couldn't have fought fire with fire and started with Petrov and Weiss on the wings with Ireland and NDJ in a 4-man midfield i have no idea. Our midfield was vacant. Our forwards lacked conviction and courage and were just not up for it. And our makeshift defense looked just like a makeshift defense. Junior fucking league effort from everyone involved really.

Re: Your views on tonights game?

Postby Colin the King » Thu Dec 17, 2009 12:24 am

What I'm really disappointed about is the way in which we lost the game- no resilience, no character. In this run of draws we've had one positive was that we showed the determination to come back and the players worked hard for their goals but tonight we lacked any kind of energy and it's one of the most lacklustre efforts I've seen in years.

Tactically, it didn't look as though there was any genuine shape or plan. Our positional sense was woeful and that allowed Spurs, on numerous occasions, to walk through the middle of the park unscathed. Barry simply doesn't dominate in the central areas, I've lost count of the amount of times he's been caught in possession and despite trying to lift us late on, he was very poor for 70 minutes or so. De Jong followed the ball too much, affording them time and space. Sylvinho was terrorised by Lennon and had to resort to stupid fouls to give himself a breather. Adebayor was lifeless and hopeless, Tevez tried to create but kept running into brick walls, Robinho was barely involved, as per usual away from home and Ireland was probably our best player on the night- which speaks volumes. He uncharacteristically gave the ball away a lot tonight and when he did try to orchestrate attacks, the others simply weren't on the same wavelength.

We've also become extremely poor at set pieces. Robinho and Tevez took corners that didn't even beat the first man, Barry's efforts were better but still lead to nothing. You'd think with the physicality players like Adebayor, Richards, Onuoha and Touré have that we'd be a lot stronger from those situations, but since around September the goals have completely dried up from that aspect.

And once again, it's a sloppy goal that set the opposition on their way. The organisation of the defensive side of the team is all over the place in truth- we've managed to paper over the cracks in that regard by scoring plenty of goals, but when they dry up the reality of our vulnerability smacks you in the face. Touré, overall, has been disappointing, as has Lescott despite recent improvements. They just don't seem to communicate with each other and that's the starting point for silly mistakes and poor positioning.

In ten games we've lost once- but failed to win nine times. That suggests there's a lack of a winning mentality among these players and if this is our level of performance in the early stage of the season, I wonder how they'll cope when the pressure heats up at the 'business end'.

I always try to look for positives in our play, but tonight they're very difficult to find.

It's been some years since watching city has pissed me off as much as it did tonight. I'm a glass full kind of guy and i can barely muster a single plus from tonights game (my only plus being RSC who actually looked half decent) it's half 12 and im still fuming over this, there was no commitment, no tactical awareness, nothing, it was one of the worst city performances i have ever seen, we were utterly humbled by tottenham.

it's depressing... really depressing... i'm sitting here comfort eating a big ol' fat cheese sandwich and polishing off a pack of quavers. i know they say you shouldn't eat cheese before bed as it gives you nightmares, but fuck it, it can't be anything worse than what i've watched tonight.

comon city, i know you are better than this. pull your socks up lads and thrash sunderland for the sake of my health!
