Eloquently put.
Some on here seem to think that Toure and Lescott are a pair of clueless schoolboys who need to be told where to stand and who to mark rather than two hugely experienced international defenders. They're not playing well, but to pin the blame on the coaches is facile. Original Dub is right, it takes time.
SO THE COACHES ARE BLAMELESS THEN?
ALRIGHT THEN.......
i'm not sure some of these fucktards has ever been gainfully employed CARL. If your employees were fucking up week in and week out and delivering complete fucking shit from time to time sprinkled with some reasonably good performances what kind of feedback might your boss have for you after one too many fuck ups from your team? He'd hand you your ass i'm sure...that's what mine would do, and that's how most people in management are treated because you are held accountable for your team. They are a reflection of you...and ultimately you live or die by your ability to understand how they motivate themselves to get the results you are asking for. Simple as that.
All this constant fucking bullshit about how "the players are to blame" and the "gaffer doesn't kick the ball" etc are just not holding water for me these days...sorry. Hughes has enough talent on this squad to mix it up and get a result vs fucking Bolton.
cheers
15 GAMES AND WE ARE STILL MAKING MISTAKES AT THE BACK..AND NOT JUST THE ODD MISTAKE.......I SHIT MYSELF WHENEVER A TEAM HAS A FREE KICK OR CORNER AGAINST US AS WE ARE SO VUNERABLE.
ALL IM SAYING IS WOULD IT NOT BE WISE TO BRING IN SOMEONE ELSE ( A FORMER TOP DEFENDER....APART FROM BOWEN ) TO ADD SOMETHING NEW TO THE DEFENSE AND GET 50 MILLION QUIDS WORTH TO START PERFORMING??
IS THAT SUCH A BAD IDEA?...I PERSONLY THINK IT,S A POSITIVE IDEA.
no reasonable person could argue with that. Hughes included. His management team aren't getting the results from the lads. Let someone come in and mix it up...even just spending a few weeks in an advisory role. Doesn't have to be a permanent position, but someone who can help address why the head isn't allowing the body to do what it should know how to do time and again after years and years or training and experience.
One thing i am always puzzled by is that when it comes to sports in the US every aspect or element of the team game has a coach...someone responsible for every skill position or technique. Footy seems to lack that kind of setup and i think most teams would do wonders to have a lot more coaches in general.
Take American football for example -- you have a Head Coach, and then someone responsible for Offense and Defense. Within those Offensive and Defensive coaches you have coaches responsible for Quarterbacks, running backs, receivers and the offensive line. Defensively you have coaches responsible for Linebackers, defensive line, and safeties...then a Special Teams (kicks, and returns, etc) coach as well. It's a bigger squad (a roster of probably 2x a football team) but still if you look at the span of control and function the players perform -- you could stand for 2-3 more coaches in a typical setup it seems to me.
The equivalent in footy probably seems expensive, but honestly with our cash we should have a coach for how to take a shit properly before a match for maximum performance if someone decides it can help.
