WHOS ON ABOUT THE FORWARDS? DID ANYONE MENTION ANY FUCKING THING ABOUT THE FORWARDS?

EVEN A MONKEY CAN GET OUR FORWARDS TO SCORE GOALS...WE HAVE ONE OF THE BEST ATTACKING LINE UPS IN THE WORLD !!

IT,S A DIFFERENT MATTER GETTING THE DEFENSE TO GEL AND KNOW WHAT TO DO AT SET PLAYS.....I DONT THINK OUR COACHES KNOW WHAT THEIR DOING IN THIS AREA.

Top class?

Lescott was carried by Jagielka and Toure has always been dodgy. Neither have ever been in the 'top class' bracket. They were simply poor signings.

sorry mate i agree with fids.
if jags carried les then why is les in front of him for england pecking order?
toure may have had the odd blunder, but has always been regarded as a top defender.

This is something that keeps getting mentioned in other threads - "We missed an opportunity today" . so did Chelsea, United, Spurs... A fan of every single club in the country, particularly those in the top 7 of the league, could say what you've just said.

This is not something that is exclusive to City. Annoying it most certainly is, but that's obviously the nature of the game this season and as long as the others don't start going on winning streaks while we're left behind, I won't be freaking out.

Liverpool fans and the manager are "100%" sure they'll finish in the top four this season. I'm quite confident Baconface and the ragettes are quite sure they can win the title. If Arsenal win today, I reckon the gooners and Wenger will be stating how close they are to the top with a game in hand.

The only plausible explanation I can think of as to why a few of our own fans are over anxious and over critical of our season so far is because they are not used to genuinely being in the mix with the big boys. And because we didn't have say five transitional years to get into that mix, the over expectancy and lack of knowledge of how a team performs in patches of a top four chasing season combined causes frustration and confusion IMO.

I disagree that we need to sack the coaches and I'll disagree as long as we CAN finish in the top four. And the main point I was making about the other teams/fans believing they are very much on target is because they still CAN. Sacking coaches that so far have us on target makes no sense.

That said, should it become abundantly clear that we can't make our target and its the coaches to blame, then as a Man City fan I'll want it sorted. I keep being associated with being a lover of Mark Hughes but in all honesty I couldn't care less about the man, or his taffia mates. But while there will be mistakes made by everyone at the club at times during the season, I will not want any of them removed for fear of disrupting a season that is looking very positive on the whole. In fact, the most positive I can remember.

WHY CANT WE BRING IN A RENOWNED DEFENSIVE COACH?..WHY CANT WE DO THAT? HE CAN KEEP HIS TAFFY MATES BUT AT LEAST BRING IN SOMEONE THAT CAN CHANGE THINGS AROUND AND GET 50 MILLION QUIDS WORTH OF DEFENDERS TO ACTUALLY ......DEFEND?

Well mate, I don't think football is as simple as that for starters.

I know a lot of folk are sick of hearing this "it takes time to gel" speil but it is the most glaringly obvious thing to everyone that is watching city this season. The attack look like they're really coming into their own now and their movement/one touch passing has come on leaps and bounds this season.

However, it takes longer to gel as a defensive unit. Toure, Lescott and Given have played 13 games in the premier league together. 13 games! They are building a better understanding over the last few weeks IMO. Not an full understanding, but a better one. Yesterday a couple of their goals should never have been allowed and once a goal is ruled out for offside it is forgotten about and nobody points to shambolic defending because in that case the defenders did their job.

The problem yesterday was that we didn't look as tight as a unit and I honestly believe we really missed a very much in-form De Jong. He's becomeing a crucial player for us and if you take Fletcher out of the United side, Essien out of the Chelsea side and Mascherano out of the Liverpool side, their defence will no doubt become more vulnerable as a result.... and these are defences that have played together for years.

Maybe it will become glaringly obvious that a coach or even the manager is the cause of a season that is going into decline and I'm sure if it does, then it will be addressed... but sometimes its just patience that is required while relationships are being formed, not just pointing the finger and calling for change... particularly when win, lose or draw, our season is going pretty damn well so far.

I actually agree with that. I've wanted that since last season. We've debated the possibilities umpteen times but I would love Dixon or even Keown in to work on the defense.

It's bizarre that we look so bloody shakey on the basis that our three actual "coaches" (MH doesn't really do much of the coaching from what I have seen) are:

Hitchcock - ex keeper
Niedziweicki - ex keeper
Bowen - ex left back

You would actually expect the defense to be the bloody part that was well coached.

re yesterday, the coaches should shoulder some blame but about 90% of the responsibility for yesterday must lie with the players

I don't actually think so.....don't think he has his UEFA license

Adams, Bould and Keown all do have their badges I think

Lee Dixon does own a restaurant though.....does that help?

Let me know where the restaurant is and I will go and test it for you.
I just find it crazy that his name comes up as a defensive coach just because.... he was a defender! I think really it just means that whoever sugegsted it thinks he himseelf would do a better job.

I think you'd do a better job mate! Reckon people are seduced by Dixon being a mad City fan combined with the analytical skills he has shown on the TV when reviewing defensive play.

Alot of blues endear themselves to Dixon because hes one of us and also been in a winning team,so it would be nice if he did have a coaching badge and join the gang at Carrington.Im sure the bloke could be beneficial with his knowhow on how a back 4 should operate, even without a coaching badge.
I really would like to see him coach our defence, especially the fullbacks.

I agree that the season as a whole is just about looking quite positive. But for me we are achieving the bare minimum and considering al the hype Hughes came with like the suggestions of him being the best young British manager and his staff being top class etc... we are nowhere near where we should be.
For the money he has spent and the ammount of time him and his coaches have had I think we are not achieving anywhere near what we should be.
