Stockport county

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Stockport county

Was looking at going to see a local game today to get my footy fix... I look at altrincham and Stockport county as the closest lower league teams. I was looking at the fixtures and with altrincham being away I looked at county and cannot believe how bad they have become. It doesn't seem that long ago that they were above us in what is now the championship.

They currently sit in the relegation zone with 1 point from 5 games in the conference north division. They would have to climb 134 places to get to where we are currently sitting in the league. WOW.

Still, I am going to go and watch them today.

Seems to be a theme with the fighting and county. I was born in edgeley and had many friends who were county fans but they were nobheads...they used to go just for the battles at the station

You should read the history of their managerial changes in the last 5 years, makes our 1990's look long term and stable.

It's turned out a complete mess at County and they've dropped so fast, it's quite extraordinary. I used to like going to a game or two but when we sailed close to each other they seemed to turn on us a bit, especially when we moved in front again. I get the feeling that many have the Rags as their second team which doesn't help their opinion of us.

On a side note, I've been looking at the German league to get my footie fix in and been down to Monchengladbach to gauge whether it's worth getting into. Turns out that they've got a 16,000 standing area that are used for league games and seeings we I'm able to get the odd freebie, I'm definately going to give it a try.

Well what a game...the dog and duck would give them at good game. Haven't seen such a poor quality game in years. They did win 3-1 but were playing Gainsborough who have played 6 lost 6

I will never forget when they had Carlton Palmer as a manager.

They lost a game and half an hour after the match he comes on for the local radio interview, he starts calmly by saying,"after that performance, I've just been in to the changing room and told the goalkeeper he is on the transfer list"

Classic.

I remember them damn nearly beating Utd @ the cabbage patch sometime back in the 80's ; they were 2-1 up with about ten minutes to go , but blew it. League Cup I think.

Forgot to add that the support is pretty good when you look at where they are in the leagues. Still get 2k+ - 3k+ each home game.
