I've really liked what I've seen of Ferny so far. I note that he seems to be the player that makes the pass to the attackers. He provides the thrust to the attacking moves. Gets the ball forward. Yes, he and Yaya have their roles to sort out, but when they get it sorted they're going to be a scary combo.

I just wish for now there was someone backing them up to make them lethal, I reckon them as a middle two in a 4-1-4-1 would be all conquering.

Rags have always missed CuntKeane Arsenal - Vieira the Ledgend, Vital you have best you can have as the teams who will find you out will have one, Medal would have been sorted out with a proper player in there as it was he grew into the man setting the tone at Cardiff. Huddlestone looked very decent last week why? no pressure on the ball and the pace of the game dictated by him in acres of space for an hour.

How do they learn their roles and how to play as a partnership if they have someone bailing them out when they shirk their defensive responsibilities.

For us resultswise short term having Garcia or Rodwell play behind them would benefit but long term it wouldn't as they don't learn to play as a two in Pellegrini's preferred system.

I do agree that once they have it right they will be a scary combo.

apparently Barry was told that he had no future at the club even before Pellegrini was appointed.

I read that too. That's really disappointing.

We have to hope that Fernandinho develops the defensive side to his game as Yaya just won't do it.

Pellegrini really needs to get Milner back involved though. He was head and shoulders above all our players last season, except for Zab.

What role did Barry play last season for us? Was he a defensive mid? No he was a runner an interceptor to use your words.

And as for the Mata comment, don't be silly, he's not remotely similar.

Exactly.

Neither is Fernandinho.

At Shakhtar, there was a bloke who played midfield who barely ever came out of his own half. Often he was stood in between the centre backs. He would get the ball & play it FORWARD to Fernadinho. He would cover behind Fernandinho when he went on mazy runs up the pitch. He was the player we should have signed if we want to replace Barry, not Fernandinho. He is an allround excellent player but he's not someone who puts out fires like Barry did. I put the stat on here; Fernandinho had one of the highest success rates in the Champions League for dribbling last season. Does that sound like Gareth Barry to you ? What is the point of spending fortunes on such a player then asking him to do a completely different job ? Joey Barton would do that job better than Fernadinho.

You conveniently dodged my question Ted so I'll ask again, what role did Barry play last season for us? Here's another, who sat deeper last season between Barry and Yaya?

I know where Fernandinho played and what role he had, I don't need you to tell me.

Two things (and two alone ...)

1. The Spanish Tixie and Dixie team is ruthless when it comes to business case. They are not making emotional decisions ... that's how Mancini went and that's how Barry's gone, Kolo was let go and you'll see Lescott will too ... if it came to that don't be surprised if Hart or Micah went too ... it'll need to fit in their plans and Barry simply wasn't going to make that cut here on.

2. I mind if still haven't forgiven Barry from that Southampton game last season ... so yes he's been great but lately he was slipping more and more and if you look at the trend ... well, maybe that's how the club saw him ...

I would have felt it was a good time to sell Barry but i cant agree with him being loaned. It does not make much sense when he was a better option than Garcia. The only plus side to him going out on loan is the possibility of more game time for Rodders.

If I had a cat I'd call it Cat. Anyway............
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
