He played more as a winger/off the striker type and never really looked like an out and out centre forward. More a skillful attacking mid with an eye for the spectacular and a good pass...and his game developed and he became an excellent finisher and basically the complete striker.

There are quite a few Van Persie parallels with Jovetic really. A little injury prone too like RVP was when younger and a good finisher with clearly excellent technique but you can tell he can get even better, just like you could tell with Van Persie when he was younger. He's even of a similar build too. Not stupidly fast, but fast enough, and left footed and scores lots of different types of goals.

Think Jovetic's development of the next few years could be quite startling if he fits in well. Might not happen admittedly, but i'd not be surprised.

Jovetic is capable of playing deeper role and wide forward but he definitely played out and out striker most of the time last year. Enough with this attacking midfielder crap. He is attacking midfielder if you think Aguero is attacking midfielder. He is fine paser, can go past people and so on but he attacking player who holds zero defensive duties ever.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

We've replaced the two strikers with two strilers. How does that help our lack of quality attacking playmaker depth? If Dave goes down or loses form again we are fucked again.

Jovetic isn't really a striker. Much like Tevez he spends more time off the main striker.

As you can see he mostly plays in midfield.

Jesus. You have got to be fucking kidding me. Guy never visits his own half and you call him midfielder. You have NEVER seen him play have you? If you believe some idiotic weblinks, here's where he lined up last season. http://www.whoscored.com/Players/29072

He did say in his interview he plays behind the main strikers or on the left. Prefers behind the striker.

And yet you ignore the "strengths" written below that photo. You refuse to acknowledge Jovetic himself saying that he plays behind the striker.

I'm not sure how much others have watched this lad, but I've watched him closely.

He plays numerous roles, but mainly he's a link from the attacking mids to the striker.

He can play as an out and out striker but it's not what his full game is about. Just bring on the fucking season already.

Well excited about jovetic. My number one target to ease some burden on silva.

And that makes him attacking midfielder? Like I said pages ago. I believe it's Dzeko/Negredo paired with Aguero/Jovetic playing off him. Which is essentially what he confirms there.

They don't play the same position. Jovetic will play WITH Silva rather than be replacement for him.

Position shmosition. Say, Silva's form drops dramatically, he could be replaced by Navas or Nasri or Milner or Rodwell in the lineup (indirectly) & Jovetic may be able to pick up some of Silva's creative load. Just to remind you, because you seem to have been lost in semantics: Your original point was, that the over reliance on Silva wasn't addressed.

It's perfectly possible to win games & even the league without an out & out playmaker like Silva (just look at the scum).
Jovetic has the ability to make things happen & so do Fernandinho & Navas (even tho I think the latter will be an impact sub for us, in the same way he is for Spain). Ergo, the Silva-situation has been addressed, just not in a direct way, but with several players sharing his responsibilities.

Whether Jovetic is nominally a striker, a winger, a trequartista or a midfielder is beside the point. The important thing are his qualities. The perfect example in that regard is our most creative player last season, Carlos Tevez.

Jovetic has actually referred to himself as an attacking midfielder in recent times & that it is his preferred position. I don't see much difference in his role & that of Silva & Nasri or indeed Tevez quite often last season.

They are all basically attackers who drop deep & do nothing of note in their own boxes. Jovetic has had to play striker a lot at club & international level, which is fortunate for us, as it keeps his price down. He's miles better deeper.

Don't see anything on the club site. The twitter list isn't always up to date. Kolarov has had a twitter account since June and has just been added. Negredo was confirmed by the club's twitter account before him. But I surprised Kolarov doesn't have a verified account.
