Marik Hamsik of Napoli for the creative midfield role. Anyone who's played Football Manager will know about him.

Drenthe is not good enough defensively. Hamsik is good, but too inconsistent, can be world class one match and gash the following one, nonetheless I rate him so I wouldn't mind us going for him, but I'd prefer Van der Vaart.
Oh I know, I said before that I couldn't think of a full back, either right or left, who was both good at defending and going forward, if not maybe alves on the right and Clichy on the left, so I definitely agree on that. That's why I said before that our best bet is to get a young prospect for that position and make him develop, like Bale from Spurs.Kyle wrote:Although I do agree with you about Drenthe, Maicon and Lahm are just as suspect defensively. At the present time there are not many backs that are both good going forward and good defensively. There are honestly no names that pop in my mind that would be realistic targets that are the all around package for that position. I do really enjoy watching Drenthe, although I haven't watched him frequently enough to know if he would do the deed for city.

Sneijder
Kolo
Ribery
Gourcouff then loan him back to his club beforehand so he isnt sitting on the bench for us.

EDIT. I hear James Beattie may be available in January. He'd provide excellent cover whilst Manny is away at the African Nations.
