Serie A...in decline?

Postby Bianchi on Ice » Sun Jul 07, 2013 11:39 pm

I havent watched serie A in years but so many comments on here from people who watch it saying how poor it is now...really?..why?..it doesnt seem to have a negative impact on their national side who are almost always there or thereabouts so whats the reason?...give me an italian player over an english one any day...they can trap and pass it with both feet most of the time
..I dont see a decline in that skill...would be good if we had a few more like that....

Money - the TV money distribution is designed to funnel it all to three or four big teams no matter how they perform during the season. Juventus could finish just above relegation and would still be one of the highest paid teams in the league. It all comes down to national support, and the calculation for deciding the level of national support is contentious and open to abuse and/or manipulation.

Italy like England, Spain and Germany keeps most of its best players at home.

The difference is the quality of the foreign players. Top ones don't go there anymore, they're 4th choice in my opinion. Early 90's Italy was the league. Not so much anymore.

The match fixing scandals have hardly encouraged the normal fans of Seria A football and at the same time tarnished the leagues reputation.I have followed Seria A in the past watching games on espn but the past couple of seasons i am really losing interest.

Hey Citizens!
This is my first post in this great site!
I really love the Premier league's style, I think that the last championship was worst that the previous one that we won! but it's awesome!
Osvaldo is a good player, but so different than Tevez, City will miss Carlitos...

Cheers from Argentina!

welcome, City really loves it's Argentinian players (and former players) - have you got any hidden stars over there, just waiting to be discovered?

Another Mario Kempes (one who is City daft) would do quite nicely, thank you very much.

Doesn't England keep most of its best players at home because most of its best players are shit?

That's clearly not why tho is it? England as a team are shit. They have still consistently provided some excellent players that choose more often to stay home.

the money is the best they'll get here...plus...technically, culturally, and from a transfer fee point of view if i were managing abroad i wouldnt buy english players...i could get better technical playersfor less money who adapt better.

One point there is a big factor in decline of serie a. Money.

You make good points against buying English, but theyre not hopeless just over priced.

My point stands for Italy tho, top players don't go there much anymore.

Both talking steps down due to their clubs deeming them surplus.

Which bit?

Did either club try desperately to keep the player?

Or do you not consider Juve a step down from city?
