If Swansea get at least a point, they'll really be struggling and if the confidence in him goes...

Roll on August.

I think our whole fixture list looks good, not a horrible christmas period, no blocks of tough games or back to back top 4 games. its got a nice balance to it and if we can keep our heads against the teams we should be beating then i think its gonna be a good season

I've never been particularly arsed about the fixture list. In the end of the day everyone plays everyone twice.

I think it's very important mate.

Do you remember losing 3-0 at Arsenal, Rosler sent off and the whole season up in smoke in one afternoon. Feeling ran right through the club.

Of course it is. Confidence breeds confidence, if we have an "easier" set of fixtures at the beginning then we can get on a roll. Momentum plays a part in any run of results.

I'd say that the Cardiff fixture is wretched. Couldn't have had to go there at a worse time.

wouldn't go that far, but i will agree it's a potential banana skin. especially with bellamy out to prove a point!!

I did notice it was favourable last year. That could have been a blip, but two years on the trot is a surprise, could it possibly be classed as a new pattern?

That's what I'm saying. Reasonable team playing their first ever Premier League game in front of crowd that will be going mental. I'd rather take the early trip to Anfield, the trip we have to take some time anyway, and meet Liverpool who has been poor at kicking off seasons for most of past decade. I would much rather go to Cardiff in say december when injuries are starting to mount up on thin squad of players and them having bit of losing streak behind them.

People seem to completely forget that we will play EXACTLY the same schedual as rags. We'll have to go to Stamford Bridge and Anfield just like them and they have the same "easy" home ties as we do.

Oh, and I'd much rather meet harder teams early on with no cup competitions in the way. Imagine getting Hull at home after Champion's League away trip to Barcelona rather than going to Anfield. But hey, tic toc and all that.

Agree with you, every year people on here go 'tic toc' and that their empires falling and every year they are there or there abouts come the end of the season.

That's right. We do indeed dream that the empire will fall. And one day it will.

Did I ever tell you about this dream I once had that liddle ol' Manchester City would be premier league champions and all the top players would face hard decisions on which club to join.... city or real madrid?

Dreams come true sometimes.

For me the change took place in the fa cup semi against United three seasons ago now. That game sent signals around the world that we had arrived. I even opened a chat about the Steely Dan track and how i quoted it to a copper on wembley way , clearly a disgruntled united fan. Ever since then, each year we are chipping away at it. Now even Fergie has had enough

I fucking hope their 'empire' falls. But these fukers have had amazing 'staying' power over the years. Every time another team has challenged them or won the title, they've come back and seen them off. I'm convinced Fergie would have retired at the end of last season had we not pipped him to the title.
Maybe that was all down to Taggart. I fuckin hope so.

Dreams do come true but I was more commenting on the fact that for at least the last 5/6 seasons our fans have talked about their impending and inevitable fall yet every year they are there or thereabouts come May.

That's one of the reasons I'm disappointed about last season. We definitely dethroned them a hell of a lot when we won the league and last season we let them right back in it.

I mean they won the league by about 15 points last season. I don't class that as us chipping away considering we beat the fuckers to it the previous season! That was them chipping away at our (future) empire!
