dzeko from wolfsburg.

i dont think we need another defensive midfielder but if we are in the market for one then id go for gattuso rather than spending £20mill + on toure.

lahm or maicon. dont think we'd have a hope in hell of landing the latter.

Blueboylewis wrote:Now about the striking department. When Ade does go in January, we dont want to buy a high class quality striker that will want to play every game! Especially when Ade will be back. How about defoe on a loan till the end of the season or on a permanent deal. Or bojan on a loan deal? We dont want to be buying a high class striker. We just want to buy a striker that will be able to cover for Ade and will be able to score and put the goals in the net to win matches.

Thats what we have to think about.

That's right, but both Defoe and Bojan can't fill the targetman role due to their physique, so we need to think of someone else. IMO Dzeko wouldn't want to play every game once Ade is back, and besides, top clubs have two top players for every position, why can't we do the same? I mean, even when Ade will be back there's always the possibility of an injury, a suspension, bad form...and having a top class replacement would cover those possibilities. It would also push Ade to give his best every game to avoid being dropped.

Bingo Lewis wrote:the weak links in our team are our full backs. we needs a left and right back to replace our current pair. they aren't good enough.

There is not much better around, though. Apart for Alves who we don't have a chance of getting, and Clichy who the Arse won't probably sell to us, I don't see much better full backs. I mean, Maicon is a threat going forward but he's also suspect when attacked so it wouldn't be this huge improvement over Micah, not in the defensive phase of the game, while he definitely is when we have the ball. Lahm is not that great defensively either, and Bridge can bomb forward pretty well himself so what we need there is someone better at defending, which is not Lahm. Johnson could have been a solution for RB this summer, but I don't think Liverpool will sell him so soon after signing him.

Leighton Baines - you might laugh, but he's a top leftback imo - others say they are ok with bridge, in my opinion he's a liability
Benayoun
Maicon
A talented "young" striker who doesn't mind warming the bench and getting the occasional chance to come on and show us how good he is - sturridge *would* have been ideal if he was more committed to the club and not so up his own arse

Ref Yaya Toure - he'll also be fucking off to the africa cup of nations so I don't think he's gonna leave barca until the summer, if he's available, why not? We're gonna need a big squad packed full of talent for the champs league

Also, just as a thought, might be worth waiting until the world cup before we make anymore big name signings

A right back for the obvious reasons and a striker who stays in the box, shoots on site and scores lots of goals from inside the six yard box.

We have Tevez, Adebayor, Bellamy and Santa Cruz but all of them drop out wide or deep and we end up having no one in the box other than SWP or Ireland coming late. And Robinho is starting to look like a more orthodox left sided midfielder than a inside left striker these days.

Creative Midfielder - Piotr Trochowski is the man I want for this spot. He wouldn't come in expecting to start every single game, and would play the same sort of role for us that Benyoun plays for Liverpool. He can play all across midfield, has a lethal free kick, and plays for Hamburger HSV whom we obviously can negotiate with. At 25 he is young enough to improve and old enough to play maturely.

Striker - I would also go for a hitman like said by others, with my list headed by Dzeko.

Trochowski was excellent against us last year - he is a really handy player.

It looks like RSC will be playing when Ade goes. Can we recall Boj if necessary?

We be great watching the World Cup next year knowing that City can buy the best on display for a change!!

I would sign David Villa. I would then send my scouts to find the best 5 players NOT playing at the world cup and assess them for the summer.

Real Madrid are ready to make eight first team stars available in the January transfer window in a bid to balance the books at the Bernabeu according to reports in the Spanish press. El Mundo Deportivo, Cardena SER and Marca are all reporting that eight Madrid first team players will face the axe in the New Year with president Florentino Perez keen on recouping part of their £250 million summer spending outlay. Former Liverpool veteran Jerzy Dudek is looking for first team football and is available on a free transfer, while Dutch international Royston Drenthe has been linked with Chelsea and Inter. Argentine international Fernando Gago has been linked with a return to his homeland as well as a move to Manchester City. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has this morning ruled out a move for Ruud Van Nistelrooy, but North London rivals Tottenham Hotpsur have expressed their interest in the former Manchester United forward who is thought to be valued at a cut price £3 million. Spanish legend Guti and Dutch international Rafael Van de Vart have been linked with January moves to the Premier League with City, United and Liverpool reportedly interested. Tough tackling midfielder Mahamadou Diarra was billed as the solution to Arsenal's midfield problems, while also interesting AC Milan. Finally young Argentine defender Ezequiel Garay is set to leave the club after falling behind Pepe and Raul Albiol in the pecking order; the centre half is being touted as a possible recruit for both Villareal and Valencia.

Real Madrid First Team Members available in January:-

PLAYER ESTIMATED VALUE (£) AGE NATIONALITY
Jerzy Dudek Free 36 Polish
Royston Drenthe 6 million 22 Dutch
Fernando Gago 7 million 23 Argentine
Ezequiel Garay 4 million 23 Argentine
Guti 1.5 million 33 Spanish
Rafael Van de Vart 5 million 26 Dutch
Mahamadou Diarra 5 million 28 Malian
Ruud Van Nistelrooy 3 million 33 Dutch

So who would you take about of this lot in Jan? Personally with Ade away i think we need extra forward line cover. I know he's an ex rag but I wouldn't mind Van Horse Face leading the line while Ade's in Africa and being an option from the bench when hes back, and Van De Vart at 5m seems a total steal! The article links us with him and Gago, don't really know too much about him.

Van der Vaart for sure, possibly Van Nistelrooy too, but I'm not too arsed about him.

I'd only sign Yaya. We need another defender and he'll fit in nicely I think (pushing Kolo/Lescott out to fullbacks and covering midfield - another Kompany)

We should struggle on then with the squad we have ... even if that means poor results and no chance of 4th/cups this season. I think trusting who we already have is the best decision for us right now.

Hehe, would be sweet if he came and scored the winner in the derby tho. But I agree, it's better to leave him where he is.

I think the right full back slot is a place that needs strengthening, I don't think we would be able to land Maicon after his agents coments about a month back so it's a tough one to see who we will go for, nevertheless I think this could be one of the few times we could see Hughes go abroad to strengthen us and it wouldn't be a surprise if we sign someone from the Bundesliga like in the past. Another place we might strengthen is the opposite side, although I think Bridge has been good and I rate his form so far this season, he might just have kept his place safe till the end of the season.

I personally would like to see another creative midfielder added also, someone like Van der Vaart who is available at Madrid. I wouldn't be suprised to see us move for Yaya Toure either after all the noise he has been making over the last few weeks.

Players who could go out are the obvious one like Garrido, Benjani etc.
