Perhaps they are trying to sell one Gareth B and replace him with another Gareth B and hope no one notices!

It's their way of trying to crack the oriental market. I'm sure a lot of orientals pronounce Bale as Barry and so wouldn't notice the difference

Let's be honest here, Bale blows hot and cold, if he was scoring like Messi, yeah 60 mill, maybe more, but you daren't build your team around him ,he's too inconsistent.

He plays in a team where the remaining players are nowhere near what City has. Imagine him playing on our left wing and giving a deadly cross to Dzeko. Or Silva/Nasri/Isco giving him a killer through ball, then he gets behind the defense with his pace and runs riot. Or teams parking the bus, then him shooting from range or a free kick and scoring and thus opening up the game.

He is also 23/24, meaning he has atleast 7 to 8 years of football in him yet. Maybe even more. He need not be a 1 man army for City but he would definitely make us deadly.

Imo, it feels that he is inconsistent because he is often very heavily marked, and yet he has won spurs an uncountable number of points singlehandedly. I remember a couple of games like the one against Un*ted at WHL where Slurgie had 2 players(Rafael and Beaker, I think) marking him and constantly pushing him to the left to nullify his threat. That wouldn't really work against City since the rest of our players are superior than the likes of Defoe and Adebayor.

Why not? I assume that one reason might be his cost. However, I don't think that FFP would stop PSG from bidding 85 million, so why should it stop City? We even have a better revenue and a new tv deal coming up. IF CL performances improve, that would mean more income as well.

hmmm, seems daft money to me for Bale even if he was just what a team needed. I'm not convinced he is a well rounded player, he thrives in counter attacking or being supplied on the wing. Cut the supply and he tends to disappear a bit. He has got better but will that last?
If City continue to some extent with a mobile front three and dominating the play I just don't see him as fitting in with that, it doesn't suit him, so for a team like City (up to now) he wouldn't be worth more than 35mil maximum.

Other teams may view that totally differently if like their philosophy was counter attacking, like say Napoli. He'd be worth a lot.. 50 say, surely no more than that though?

Selling Baz at this point would not be a good idea, next year that could completely change, but now no.

As for Spurs there's no way Levi will pay over the odds for anyone. And in England, Arsenal and Spuds will only get players not wanted by us, Scum and Chelski.

How many of our players can do that? Scoring from range is not to be underestimated and we lack anyone who can do that on any sort of regular basis.
He's also a brilliant free kick taker and a great crosser and has lighting pace. Four things we miss in our side.

He scored 30 odd goals last season which for a winger is bloody impressive.
Pay whatever it takes to get him.

He hardly played on the wing though last season. AvB used him more central or pretty much let him roam wherever he wanted.

I agree 100% though. I hate the little heart shite but would pay whatever it takes to get him here.

I would think if we need to enter the bidding at around £90M, then there are better places to use the money, rather have Cavani, Isco and change.

what, when he's done his time?
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

I agree it's a possibility.

He will have paid his debt to Barca, & may look for a change late in his career.

It depends if he just wants the easy life, to play out his career in a comfort zone, or a challenge.

If Pep stays at Bayern, he could end up there.

I also think he'll end up here. I believe he is the bigger picture when it comes to the movement at board level. I can see pep here in the next two to three years, with messi following close behind.

There is nothing the owners would want more than arguably the greatest footballer of all time pulling on the city jersey.

They will move heaven and earth for this to happen.

Phil Jones? Or did you mean George Best, hence having to move about 6 feet of dirt
