Next 11 League Fixtures.. COME ON

Postby Abu Dhabi » Sun Dec 06, 2009 4:27 pm

This win couldnt have come in a better timing (well not really.. would loved the win to come earlier but..) and its now up to the team to build on our position. Ofcourse we got an important tie with spurs in 2 weeks, but the next 11 games are very important and most importantly realistically achievable. If we got 90% of the points we will be in a very strong position getting into two hard runs when we play Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs in a row last two weeks of Feb and United, Arsenal and Villa in a row last two weeks of April.
We should use this confidence well and I think we could at least get 28 out of 33 points, with more really achievable.

Bolton (A)
Spurs (A)
Sunderland (H)
Stoke (H)
Wolves (A)
Blackburn (H)
Everton (A)
Stoke (A)
Portsmouth (H)
Hull (A)
Bolton (H)

To my good luck yesterday was my first Home game and it was a great day thanks to Lythamblue and his family.
Would have loved to meet some of you lads but the townley was packed and we had to walk early to the stad. Should happen next time though!

Now I read a lot about the lack of atmosphere in many games, but if we kept yesterday's noise all the time then I can see us getting the best of Home games. Same everytime please!

Bolton (A) 3
Spurs (A) 1 (0)
Sunderland (H) 3
Stoke (H) 3
Wolves (A) 3
Blackburn (H) 3
Everton (A) 3 (1)
Stoke (A) 3 (1)
Portsmouth (H) 3
Hull (A) 3
Bolton (H) 3

29 but could be over egging it,
Alternative would be 26 which still wouldn't be bad!

Would asking for 33 points out of 33 be asking too much? ;) Seriously tho, the only games I see on paper as potentially not wins are the Spuds and Everton ones, and only because they are away. The other games we should be able to win, even without ADe and tourè in January. But, we drew with Hull, Burnley and Fulham...

ugh, not this again. we hauled garbage from the last list of 'easier' games. i count on nothing. just keep the play as it is and we'll be fine. attack, attack, attack. noone can deal with us. noone.

Firstly, I'm glad you got home OK as I was a bit worried about you sitting alone on that last train back to London with all those upset Chelsea fans. Anytime I have a spare ticket you are welcome to it. I enjoyed your company, you are obviously good luck and a good bloke into the bargain.

Now, back to points for the next 11 games. I have said that we should target 2 point per game and not give a damn where they come from. Therefore, to get back on track after we will have then played 25 games, we will need 25 from this next possible 33.

I think we can get them .....but they will probably come from the least expected areas.

After that, yes we play 3 top sides, but who cares, there is no tangible reason to expect us to drop points against them either.
Relax ... It's only a message board in hyperspace!!

The thing is, if we beat all the teams except the top 4 at home, then drew all the mid table teams away, but beat all the bottom half teams away, the we could get barely anything from the Sky 4 games, and still get top 4.

Its the next fixtures in that list that we really need to put one of those Scum style run of wins together, get some 0-1's 89th min Tevez winners in the snow etc.

The only one you'd reasonably expect us to lose out of that lot is Spurs away but under the circumstances, we can't afford to do that. Certainly I'd hope for us to win all of the home games.

I'll go as far as looking at the next 2 games.

Bolton Away - I've been there too many times and walked away feeling that we seriously under-performed. I don't know if it's the stadium, the team or the atmosphere, but somehow we seem to be incapable of putting a decent game together. We should realistically hammer Bolton with our team and form, but for me these are the bogey team that we have to overcome (anyone remember the last time we beat them at theirs?). Outcome - 2-0 win to us but nowhere near an emphatic performance.

Spurs Away - Same as Bolton, we just can't seem to beat them but we should do it now (you should all remember the last time we beat them at theirs). They are a team who can score goals against weak opposition but if you get in their faces, they fold like a cheap 7 2 off suit. Outcome - High score draw if not a win, with a good performance from all concerned.

For the rest, I'll wait and see how much our next 2 take out of us because if some of our high profile players get injuries, anthing is possible!

I love threads like this. No disrespect, but they are perfect 'time capsule' material as in 3 games time the predictions will be different (hopefully not as we are all in bouyant mode).

I wish we could loes the 'typical city' tag, alas I reckon we've got it for a while yet

These threads are jinxed I'm sure of it, the 4 games one a while back with "winnable" games left us with 4 points.

Plus all games are equally important, get the feeling European spots will go to the wire this season.
Tracking back is overrated.

Would be happy to get a point at Spuds, but all the rest we can and should win. It is time to put a run together.

25 Points out of a possible 33 will do me. I cannot see a defeat in them games unless by a major fuck-up by the ref. I just think we'll drop silly points as we are not the finished article yet to be fully dominant as has been proved already this season.
