What a difference a week makes?

Postby Patrick » Sun Dec 06, 2009 8:29 am

SWP is crap, Lescott is useless, Barry should fucl off, Richards should be sold, Tevez should never be allowed to take another free kick, Bridge should be replaced - oh yes and some twunt saying Toure is no captain

Yesterday we had a team of giants

What changed?

I think whats changed with the team on the field is they look like they are playing as a team now and know how to pass to each other. We are hardly seeing any balls being placed into open spaces and balls being lobbed up field hoping to get to our lone striker. If you mean't fans point of view most people on here are fucking fickle mate I said it time and time again.

Mate I have no bloody idea....football is a barmy game. I've never understood how City could seemingly always manage to beat the big teams on the odd day and consistently be capable of finding and going arse over tit on banana skins.

This season though we have consistently turned it on against the big boys....turned Arsenal over convincingly twice, should've had a point at the swamp, got one that should've been three at Anfield and beat Chelsea.

That is pretty impressive form.

If we can manage to take this form into the next game and swat Bolton aside and then what should be a real test at White Hart Lane we are looking bloody good

I was thinking this last night. Let's hope they are finally clicking and all that but the little demon sitting on my shoulder is whispering on my ear that our improvement might be down to these being more high profile games and they just can't be arsed against likes of Burnley and Hull.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

They say a week is a long time in politics, after watching City vs Hull it feels like a season!

Winning feels gooooood!!

I must admit i feared the worst at 0-1, thought they were going to tank us. But I saw a determination ive not seen before, we actually came from behind ;o) took the lead, and held it despite 2 or 3 clear chances for Chelsea to pull it back.

It was a heart warming emotional game that one.

I thought the same I thought " here we go... I wonder how many they are gonna get now?" As its very rare a team comes back against Chelsea when they are 1-0 up. Which made yesterday even sweeter in my book.

Agree with the comments on here especially about keeping our nerve.

Really think that we have to keep patient and stick by what we're trying to do, we've had some off days but in a couple of the drawn games it has been fair to say that lady luck has not been smiling kindly on us.

Yesterday's win really could be seen as a defining moment in the season, as to beat Chelsea at any time is a very good result but to manage to do it, having gone a goal behind early doors and the run of 7 draws on the trot in the league behind us, it really did highlight the resilience, determination and character that exists in this squad. Absolutely fantastic few days to be a City fan...getting to a cup semi-final, beating the best team in the country, being 6th in the league and here we are in December having only lost one game.

We beat a squad of Arsenal reserves.
We beat Chelsea (as did Wigan).

Oh, and we looked fantastic doing both with heaps of energy, heart and conviction. Nothing like a result to make everyone forget the last 2 months of our inability to finish off teams.

As some douche mentioned earlier in the thread...let's roll Bolton like a cheap whore then grind out 3 pts against Spurs and i'll feel like we've maybe turned a corner. Until then i'm just basking in a nice week whereas i had about 7 before that which were frustrating.

cheers

I think it is all down to projecting the blue moon onto the Colin Bell stand... maybe we should insist on all our games being played after dark so we can keep doing this. I was late in against Arse so missed it, the atmosphere it creates is mind numbing. singing bluemoon before the game used to resemble the Kop with walk on, then this season they switched to the fast version and the ground rocked, but to do it with the lights down low and the scoreboards and pitchside boards all lit up with the moon blow the mind

On the subject of the run of seven draws being turned into a negative or a positive depending on the results that surround it. Since we lost to the filth we have played 12 games in all competitions, including 3 against 'Top 4' sides and won 5 drawn 7. it doesn't seem quite so bad now does it?

Some would claim that sport at this level is mostly played in the players' heads. The only difference I can see is the confidence of a win, something that they hadn't had in two months.

There is however still a long, long way to go and, though it was glorious and a huge boost for us, it only gets us three points. We've got to play just as well next week at Bolton now and the goals and points will come.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

Not a time to go OTT just like a week ago it wasn't the time to be all doom and gloom. It's another step in the right direction and a very positive one coming from behind against the team many are suggesting are the best in Europe.

It should be an important boost in confidence after the run of draws but also a lesson that it takes full effort to win games and the majority ,if not all , players playing to a high level. take the games one at a time but for god's sake please win the next one.
