The reason I ask if Vinnie is worth £20 mil is because there aren't that many really world class defenders around who are on the market. Who do we take a valuation off, who sets the precedence?

We paid a lot of money for Nastasic who is still very young and to some extents, not proven. Or do we go off the CamelGob deal from years ago, £30 mil all the way back then?

To me, Vinnie epitomises what we are all about. He's worth more to us than any price but I do wonder where the line would be drawn if someone came in with a huge bid.

I'm sorry, I thought Beefy's question was tongue-in-cheek, hence my tongue-in-cheek reply.

Some of the comments on this thread from City fans should get you barred from supporting ANY team.

Kompany IS City for the next 5/6 years. Captain, Best defender in the world (now, oh yes,) and a true symbol of our progress - We all remember when Richard Dunne was our main defensive, er, unit.

IF he was sold it would be for a minimum of £40 million. And then we would want someone in as p/x as well.

'Everyone wants to play for Barcelona.' No. No, they don't.

The idea is that we build a team, squad and dynasty that will eventually dwarf theirs, and Utd's, Real's and Bayern's.

That is the goal of our owners. That is a goal I now have. If you're not on board, you still have a small club, inferiority complex and should re-adjust your attitude. Best team in the land (already true, most weeks,) and all the world (a little while longer yet.)

Barcelona Shmarcelona. Yaya left them to play for us. That is the new order. Even if it takes 25 years.

What can Vinnie get at Barca that he can't get at CITY? At the moment all I can think of is a tan and playing in front of 90k+ every home game. He can work on his tan in the summer here, and whos to say we wont end up with a 90k+ stadium of our own in the (not too distant) future?
