If I've not mentioned this before I effin hate the cheating scumbags and the only thing that spoiled the result tonight was Taggart not getting carried off to hell in a body bag following heart failure after the ref sent ninny off

After they'd managed to get thru their group which as far as I can remember featured the likes of colwyn bay and sporting benidorm what happens when they play the runners up in our group? We should have beaten them in Madrid and at least we drew chez nous. Twats.

Interesting reactions from some of those involved tonight...

Bacon is a total wreck and MIA - interesting words from Phelan in the press conference... Was this his last shot at the Champions League?

Maureen has been a total kiss ass and considering what a huge result this was for Madrid has barely celebrated it. Vanishing into the tunnel before the final whistle. He almost seemed disappointed to have won?!

Tranny - didn't celebrate the goal, barely celebrated the win and did his best to not score another goal in the final 17 minutes. The few efforts he had were lame.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but tonights reactions lead me to think that this is Bacon's last season and both Tranny and Maureen will be at the swamp this summer...

Trust me, i am a die hard City fan...my beef is with Mancini... Just cant stand the damm excuses after all the money our owners invested...
we should have atleast improved as a team this year with the players we have...sorry fir being negative fellows..but i'm frustrated..

no you are not....why mention MONEY ???

Well, being objective, when you look at the big picture...Our owners did pump significant amount of "M"word into the club.... as a fan, I demand results. The solution is not always buying more players... need to start doing what you are paid to actually do, coach & motivate. Stop complaining about " needing new players", "BUY BUY BUY"... stop tinkering with a winning formula; exploit your current resources to the max....

Didn't think it was a red, thought united's reactions were classless.

Ultimately the teams were matched and Real got the break. Need to think about our own performance and how we want to get to this stage.

By God the press wanted balo lynched that night.

Now it's "justice for nani".

The headline when Balo was sent off for something similar...

"Balotelli see's red after shocking challenge see's City bow out of Europe.

Kiev hold Manchester City to knock them out of Europe due to a shocking tackle from Mario Balotelli for a high boot"

The Mirror's headline for tomorrow;

"Seeing red: United fury as Nani dismissal sets up Champions League exit.

Real Madrid score two goals in four minutes shortly after midfielder is controversially sent off for a high boot to advance to the quarter-finals".

Well, as Doug says it was a very interesting game.As he also says, this is the tactical level they work at in the chumps and so far its proved beyond Bert. There is no doubt the rags attack more quickly than us and that we need more players with pace.As for the key moments I thought rags were on top and would probably win before the sending off. I thought the sending off was a booking because he was merely trying to bring the ball down, albeit his boot was dangerously high. However I was surprised how the rags folded. It looked like they had 8 men for five mins after the sending off. I think Bert would have reorganised us much more quickly and effectively. For me the interesting thing about a game at this level was the low number of outstanding players on the pitch, particularly Real who look to be in a fallow period. Ronaldo is carrying them in my view. The rags do well with mediocre players because their system of breaking at pace using the whole width is sharper than our more patient approach. My gut feeling is the league is gone but I reckon we'll get em in the cup and beat em.
