I think we now know and the players know that if we are to have anything from this season that constitutes a success for our club, it will be a domestic trophy and I believe we will play as if their lives depended upon a victory. I know we want the top four slot but I do feel that this is bonus territory and not one of the primary objectives of the club. Obviously they (the club) and we want to finish as high up the league as possible but the reality that money does not give instant success is beginning to sink in to some of our more vociferous posters and possibly the club staff. I am sure we all had dreams of how high we would finish in the premiership this year and even I had sneaky thoughts earlier on that we might be in a position to fight for the top spot come the end of the year, but that is gone and when you look at Chelsea, you can understand that we are a long way off that calibre.

I fancy us to win this 3-1 as they will attempt to play football and it will be an open game but I feel that we will have the skill and the metal to beat them. My only concern is that they will be dependant on confidence and if they sneak a goal in the first 20mins it could be a long night....though equally if we do the same, we could hammer them on the counter attack.

Deserved a response and I agree in with your comments, however I would like to abstane from predicting a result. I had us down for a draw and ET when this was first pulled out, but now I'm not so sure!

I think if we get through this round, we'll win the whole thing. We need some kind of success this season, and a Champions League place would be fantastic for setting up next summer's transfer market, breaking up the top 4 and demonstrating the club's ambition, it's still important to get some silverware. There's even some support in the punditry community, with Toby and Scouse from the Front Room putting their money where their mouth is. Must say, it's easier for Smiley and Robbie though, an even bet where they have effectively backed the rest of the field? Hardly fair. The Arsenal test will be huge though, I their kids play the best football out of anyone left, so getting physical with them early is pretty important. If we score first we'll be fine. If they do it'll be horrible, like playing piggy in the middle for the rest of the game.
