We've more chance of signing David Villa than Fernando Torres. But, in reality, virtually no chance of signing either.

If you read any recent interviews with Torres it's clear as day that he is very happy at Liverpool. As long as Benitez remains manager I cannot see that changing and even if Rafa did get the boot it's still not certain that this would change Torres' mind as he seems to like the club and the city.

That said, I'd still put in a massive bid just to muddy the water...we have nothing to lose in doing so

Liverpool are a bigger club than us and Torres seems to genuinely want to be at Liverpool, hence his new contract in the summer and when you hear him in interviews, he comes across as quite sincere.

Yes Liverpool have well-documented financial issues and these would be exacerabated if they failed to qualify for next season's Champions League, but even if they were forced to sell him, he would not be coming to us, more likely Barcelona or a club with that sort of profile. Perhaps in a couple of years we can attract one of the best two strikers in the world - the other being Drogba in my opinion, but not until then

See I got to their and then realised what you were writing was meaningless. Also Torres has clearly said if he ever goes back to Spain he would only ever go back to his old club who now could not afford him so thats a non issue. There isn't any team outside England except for maybe AC Milan (with the Kaka money) Who could afford him. Unless the US decides he is the new David Beckscum but I doubt it.

So you don't think Drogba's a top class striker?? And no i don't see Torres pitching up at Eastlands any time in the next couple of years - i'm being realistic - he does love being at Liverpool and i reckon even if they did miss out on top 4 this season, he's the type of person who would seem to want to stay at Anfield and right the wrongs as would Gerrard.

I didn't say that I think he is top class mate definitely in the top 10 strikers but only just! Definitely in the top 2!

Vhero, either you are agreeing with me or it is a typo error on your part, which is it? Also, who are the strikers that you think are better than Drogba in the world?

I think we crossed wires somewhere here mate??? All I said was I dont think he is the best in the world right now I think Villa, Torres and Eto'o are all better I reckon Drogba is definitely in top 10. I guess thats just my opinion though. Although don't get me wrong mate I was wishing City would try sign Drogba back in summer.
