I had to start again because, try as I might, I couldn't log on under the first name.

By way of comparison, here's our results (where appropriate) against the teams against whom you've drawn in your remarkable sequence of results:

Hull - 3-3 (a) - disappointing to do so, having led two-nil

Liverpool - 2-3 (h) - taken out by a clinical finisher (Torres)

Burnley - 5-3 (h) - rollercoaster of a game with some trademark flimsiness following on from some great attacking play from a team taking time to gel

Birmingham - our next away game. Would definitely take the 0-0 you achieved; they're a well-drilled unspectacular team.

Fulham - 2-2 (h) Another game we shouldn't have let slip, but they're a good team, deserving of their position in league and Europa with a very good coach that the players clearly respect.

Wigan 1-0 (a) A game we controversially lost (given that we had a goal refused when Cole headed in, but, as the ball was actually entering the net, the ref blew for half-time

Villa 2-1 (h) A deserved if ragged victory against one of the league's decent sides.

And the comparison is interesting because, as I might charmingly note, we finished one place higher than you last time around. Since that time the paths taken by each team have been diametrically opposite. I wish you well, but you need the killer instinct to come back. I sincerely backed you to win handsomely yesterday and was surprised you never.

Knowing you lot, you'll thrash Chelsea though. And long-term?

Hughes stays until the end of the season? 5th - 8th
Hughes replaced by a proper coach of world-class talent? 3rd or 4th.
A cup's a reasonable prospect either way; on your day, you can beat anyone.

I had a drink a few years ago with a couple of your boys when we played you in the cup(dean ashton night) he described WHU as the Man City of London. Not far out if you ask me. I`d personally like you lot to do well stay up which I think you will, however as you say our seasons have gone in opposite directions but the points tally you pointed out does really pinpoint the problem..which set of players want it more at the moment.
Back to ypur question I`d take a cup right now
