Nasri, what does he actually do?

He has been quietly effective for us. He isn't as spectacular as Silva but is clever and creates plenty of chances.
Think that quite a few are never gonna forgive him for the Van Pussy goal so he will become more of a scapegoat methinks.

what are these chances he creates? It is hard to notice, because when he does have the ball, he runs back the opposite way.

For me him creating 34 chances considering how much he has played and without taking corners and free kicks to me suggests he is doing what he is supposed to be doing.

If doesn't lose the ball much but he always takes too long with it. Has to turn back and forward a few times by which time the opposition have everyone behind the ball.

To bring a tiny bit of perspective, whilst he was awful last night, he was playing well for a few games before the injury/suspension.

His stare and fake does slow us down on occasion but no worse than the yaya spin (watch for it) or the silva how many times can I cut onto the other foot before a defender falls over.

What is considered a 'chance'?

The OPTA definition is:

Shot on target

Any goal attempt that:

a) Goes into the net

b) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a goalkeeper's save

c) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a defender who is the last man.

Shot off target

Any goal attempt where the ball is going wide of the target, misses the goal or hits the woodwork.

Blocked Shot

Any goal attempt heading roughly on target toward goal which is blocked by a defender, where there are other defenders or a goalkeeper behind the blocker.

We also now have data available for chances created too. Again, OPTA's definition is:

Assists plus Key passes.

OPTA also define an assists and key passes as follows:

Goal Assist

The final pass or pass-cum-shot leading to the recipient of the ball scoring a goal.

Key Pass

The final pass or pass-cum-shot leading to the recipient of the ball having an attempt at goal without scoring.
