Agreed.

I do not recall us complaining when Joe Royals kick and rush football got us out of the Championship ahead of a far better footballing side in Ipswich.

It's not about the style of football at all. Even though I wouldn't watch any Stoke games not involving City if you gave me a quid a minute, they are free to lump it as they please.

What gets on my tits is all the snidey shit they get away with. I can't remember the last time we played them & there was no elbow or stamp or some other instance where they blatantly crossed the line. Also the grass & the towels might be within the rules, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it.

Apart from 2 or 3 games a season, I don't give a shit about them anyway & if they were to be relegated I sure as hell wouldn't complain.

This.

I don't mind physical teams. But I do mind teams who seemingly get instructed by their chavvy manager to kick lumps out of the opposition, elbow and stamp etc.

Stoke are absolute scum, I cannot wait for them to get relegated.

I don't mind too. actually it's a very defining part of my immense love for the English Game,
But I tend to transliterate the above definition with the Gollums' interpretation of it. Stoke are just wrestling cheaters with very little attitude for football.
Despite the fact that I've have always paid much more respect to Pulis (comes rain or shine with his attitude towards City) than what I did to Moyes (as a person I mean, cuz his managerial ability is out of question). well, at least since that famous hard fought draw at the swamp, last season.... :-)

I would have thought that any objective person could see Stoke were relatively gentleman-like in the tackle today, apart from Whelan's two footed jump which will rightly see him banned for 3 games. I feared they'd kick Dave out of it but they stood off respectfully. They used the long throw only in moderation and for the most part jumped fairly in our box. In fact I was bemused by the timidity of their approach. The grass was a disgrace but we coped with it better than them.A massive step up in sporting behaviour from the long throwing, lumping, elbowing hacking roughouses of three seasons back. They aren't very good but good luck to them I say.

They're part of the fabric that makes English football what it is. They provide a different test which adds to the variety of the league. I'd much rather have a team in the league that can beat anyone on their day than face the same old easy eats week in week out. Stoke at home is a test.

Pulis has said positive things about our play, players and management this time round.
He said "you have to give city credit, they play very good football and are extremely well organised" he goes on to say "they don't get the credit they deserve sometimes because of the amount of money spent...money doesn't mean you win everything, you still good management and leadership to get to the top and they are a top top team."
Very gracious in defeat I thought this time round and I think like Pulis, many managers secretly like us because we play well, but don't gloat about the quality we have and play.

Very nice comments from Pulis, and completely unexpected too.

I don't particularly like the way Stoke play, but as others have pointed out, they offer a different type of challenge in their home games and everyone knows getting a win there will always be difficult.

Nope. He said nothing like it.

Stoke City FC have to do what they have to do to survive and maintain there Premier league status , it aint pretty but it works for them. Clubs like Stoke make the Premier league what it is and it certainly isnt all about the big clubs .... some on here need to realise this !

They don't have to leave the boot in every tackle or go for every header with a leading elbow. Be interesting to see how many serious injuries happen against Stoke as opposed to other teams

I don't understand this mentality that says smaller clubs who get promoted into the Premier League need to cheat, scrap and spoil their way to survival.

If Swansea can play good football why can't Stoke (who have been in the top tier a lot longer)?

But that's a different argument though isn't it. It's a poor excuse to say that you have to play like that because of your resources, but you can play like that if you want to and it gives the PL a taste of variety.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

In the league game at Stoke, Balotelli was elbowed and a retrospective ban for the Stoke player. In the FA Cup game there was that two footed tackle on Garcia which could have broken his foot. Stoke go way too far over what is acceptable

I expected this thread to be about another fans'/rebel club.

Stoke City are shit to watch and nobody will miss then when they eventually get relegated. They have crap players with sub-par ability who enjoy injuring better players.

But this has all been said. We won and they're out. Onwards and upwards.
