it's a year ago when i made my way to my 1st ever european away match involving City thanks to ryanair and a very big thanks to the one and only CTK (for the ticket )
brings back happy memories the 3 days i was away ,from the tuesday night i spent down on "le vieux port "in marseille to the friday morning getting woken up off the ticket inspector on the train after it had got into Holland and was on its way back to Dusseldof
i know it was a 1st for a lot of you what do you remember most or your best stories from that trip ?
one of mine has to be getting on the bus and the German police officer saying "ok lads ver do ve go?to ze ground or a pub "we stopped off at a centre where gary cook was with a few people drinking a large glass of red wine ,BMD had a few words with him, also that fcuking stuffed crow ,you should of took it fidel castro

How time flies, I can remember that trip like it was yesterday. One of the best stadiums i have been in and the Shalke fans were brilliant.

Wasnt' there that day..
but this topic once more reminded me of the great away days last year. Though always when other teams play european football I feel so gutted that we need to wait at least until next season to get more away days in Europe!

Can't believe a year has passed since that trip, great memories. The Wednesday night in the 'Aldstadt' in Dusseldorf was one of the best atmospheres I've ever seen, dancing on tables, two lots of fans singing at each other from across the bar, it went on all night. Tommy who used to be in Corrie nearly swinging for me...because I said 'you're Tommy'. Bit of a nut that lad.

BMD wolfing two massive kebabs in five minutes, the Irish bar...don't go there. Microwaved tea? Meeting Cook and Buzzer in that shopping centre...the pineapple bus! The women!

And the game itself was one of the best I've been at, electric atmosphere and a top performance from City.

I'd go back in a flash, top place.

Best experience as a Blue. The jagermeister, macca trying crowd surfing as the tram doors opened and ending up in a heap on the platform. The bar in Gelsenkirchen after the game til 3 a.m. with singing between fans. The stadium, the match itself. Magical couple of days.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

I remember a very fucking good time, true away adventure.

£10 return flights from Brum to Frankfurt Hahn, Plane was delayed from Brum for 90 minutes, the weather was too bad for us to land at F-H, so we had to land at Baden Baden which was 250miles further away than where we should have been..... sooo 2 and half hours later we arrive at F-H only to get on another bus for 3 hours to Cologne, then to get a train for 35minutes to Dusseldorf.

We arrived dead late, checked into the Hotel about 11 and tried to find the konigstrasse (or whatever it was called) we could hear voices but they sounded really far away, the street as we approached it was dead..... we turned the corner though to see a crowd of City fans outstide what must have been the only bar open on the street, we got smashed got back to our hotel about 5 in the morning, got up, checked out, got very very pissed before and on the way to the match, came back to dusseldorf, went back to the same bar the night before, stayed there until our train was due in the morning, and made a very tired, sobering long journey back home.

Realised half way that I had left my camera in the bar, I still havent seen it to this day.... but feck it I have the memories!!!!

One of the best trips I've been on, and I hope to go to many more european away matches!!!

Best away day ever for my brother and me, we went down and flew from Stanstead mid morning on the Wednesday and got to our hotel within about 5hrs of take off so once the bags were dumped we set off to find the city pub. We found that packed bar with all the singing outside under the patio heaters an I remember thinking how gutted the bar owner next door must be cos he hardly sold a drink all night while his next door neighbour was coining it in.
We managed to get as wasted as possible by about 1a.m and made for home, easier said than done. This is where the trip becomes more memorable than most. After beer I've got a bit of a sleep walk problem. I'd been in bed flat out for who knows how long and then must've set off on a trip. I'd gone down to reception in just a pair of boxers and told the girl I couldn't get in my room(?), she pointed me back in the direction of the lift and I went up to the 7th floor (my room was on the 4th). Got out the lift and walked into a room with its door open an I remember thinking this wasnt right but I still carried on. There were 3 single beds with a big bald head hanging out of each one! I went as far the last bed and I cant explain why, but I nudged this big bastard with my knee and just said to him "move up shag". If I'd been awake at this point I'd have expected a whack but the bloke actually did it! I got in his friggin bed an was asleep for half hour or so til he woke up an told me to Fook off (as u would)! This is when I woke up properly an realised I could b in a bit of shit .
I went back an found my room an even as I was telling my brother the whole story (bout 4a.m by now i think) I was thinkin to myself "this is bollox" an he must've been thinking the same. We didn't really mention it again on the Thursday (match day) bt then
as we were going for a slash at half time, walking up the steps an this brute grabbed me an said "were u in my fuckin' room last night?" I started laughing, so did he an his mates, while he went thru the story for the benefit of about 30 people round him! He said he was out of his mind on beer too an remembered me walking in but not much else. That was the last we saw of him, maybe he posts on here, who knows?
You might have been reading this thinkin 'bollocks', believe me, I wish it was!

Top 3 days.

wednesday night- Dublin suberb Artane. at least 10 pints of the black stuff.

7am flight to Weeze. booze all day with fellow blues. Match , EXCELLENT. I still dont believe all them blokes buying alcohol free ale at half time. Amdit it if you thought it was adult beer!

Dorf after the game which was cool.

3 of us shared a taxi back to weeze with some lads. I fell a sleep on the way and when we got to the aiprort chased one of the lads coz he did a runner. Only half an hour later did my mate tell me the lad had paid the full fair and we had 'jibbed' in for nowt... ha ha... beer eh?

dublin flight cancelled - sleep. Brum flight cancelled , broken windscreen - sleep. 6 hours later we got 8 Euros for food - beer.

Well fucked off now, been in weeze airport for 12 hours. ahhhh. A flight to Spain. Ryanair agreed to let us go via Verona to manchester. Also had 2 hours in the Spanish sun sipping san miguel at sunset on Friday.

Got back to Manc at about 7pm - Oh shit..... one of the lads had left a bag in the overnight safe in Dublin airport....

Roll on next year.
lets wish for good days but not forget the bad days

Superb away day!
Flew fron Bradford at teatime on the Wednesday and was pissing it up in the Altstadt before 10 and well into the night.
What a fucking great place Dusseldorf was! Would love to go back!
Only sour note was being a little behind the lad who fell down the steps after the game in Duss railway station. Hope he's made a full recovery!
We should definately arrange a pre season with Schalke next year!

Those of you who enjoyed Germany so much will especially like the last sentence.

Manchester City has today announced that it has teamed up with a new sponsor partner in Ferrostaal
Previously known as MAN Ferrostaal, the company becomes the Club’s fourth partner and joins with Etihad Airways, Umbro and Etisalat, the latter deal was announced during the Club’s recent trip to Abu Dhabi.

Ferrostaal, a global provider of industrial services in plant construction and engineering, is based in Essen, Germany and employs around 4,440 people in more than 60 different countries. In 2008, its annual turnover amounted to 1.6 billion Euros.

The partnership was sealed at a meeting in Essen today at which CEO of Ferrostaal, Dr Matthias Mitscherlich, was present together with Club CEO Garry Cook and Chief Commercial Officer Steve Sayer.

As a result of the deal, which will run until the end of the 2011/12 Premier League season, Ferrostaal’s company logo will appear on perimeter boards at every home league and domestic cup game.

In addition, a pre-season friendly will be played against a German Bundesliga club in the region, during the closed season of each of the three years of the deal.
