we can't include the fact we have played a game less in this convenient discliplinary table,

we're averaging 1.25 "points" per game. So our game in hand would see us plummet to 2nd. Do you not accept at all the fact that this indicates we are not a team of kickers?

or the fact that somehow we have played one more away game than the filth and the [strike]yids[/strike] Spuds

which means we've had tougher fixtures, so our league position isn't falsely high. Our next home game (to even things out) is Hull. Their "away games in hand" are Arse at Scouse, Chelski at Arse, and Scouse at Scouse 2. Scum get Pompey. And actually after these games have been played we'll still have a game in hand. Fact.

Sorry mate, did you not realise four out of our five wins this season have come against 11th, 17th, 19th and 20th? Considering the filth have played all of the sky 4 and the yids have played 3 of 4, I think we are pretty much on par (or will be after we play Chelsea) with them. And our game in hand is Everton, that will be the one that "evens us out" and I would prefer that no-one count points they haven't earned, but the lickers(as you prefer) were harping on like fucking songbirds when our game in hand put us 4th. I was merely asking for the analysis to be consistent with the same "everything's fine" crap they were coming out with before.

And if you really want to know, we are in fact 7th in the fairplay table(last update) which was the table being referred to last season when we dropped from 5th or so under Sven to 14th(or 17th, cant really remember) under Hughes.

Don't get me wrong, I am very positive about this season...even in the face of our somewhat drawish behaviour, and I do like positive threads, but let's keep them entrenched in reality when we do. Slanting stuff like this to make us look better than we have been is just plain stupid and becomes stats sitting on quicksand.

Now if we win that magical game in hand it's 5th...guess that doesn't have the same ring to it huh?

So what have we learnt? Looking at a table with uneven number of games either gives us a fair reflection or it doesn't. If you want it one way(ie. game in hand, 4th..no wait, 5th) then you can't have it the other(3rd on the away table but plus games on the filth and yids)

No mate, 5th doesn't have the same ring to it as 4th. I still wouldn't start whinging over it though.

This 'trend' that's being set is because of a spin that 6 draws in a row means six poxy results, but I'm not in that camp at all. I think Birmingham was the worst performance, followed by Fulham, followed by Burnley.... that's three in my book, because playing Wigan on their ground with ten men is not one bit easy and Villa Park and Anfield are two of the hardest grounds in the land....
Three results where we dropped points IMO and three where we gained valuable points.

Essentially, our home games against Burnley and Fulham is what upset me the most and playing like we did against B'ham reminded me of our form of last season, but we've put that to bed at Anfield IMO, where we took the game by the scruff of the neck when we needed to.

If we don't beat Hull I'll fucking snap just like the next lad, but we have three home games now coming up and IF we're sitting in a semi-final and with even 4 more points on the board, I'll be more than happy....

That table is great but there is a bit of a however

That suggests that Hull are in better form than us and the fair play table which I would think is the relevance of the number of red and yellow cards we have has us in 7th place which is going downwards.
But as has been said as long as we win our home games and draw the away ones there can be little to complain about.

Hull have 2 more points this season than we do away, West Ham have 1. Yet by that measure of the form book they're ahead of us.
