Barry

I think we can all agree, well almost all of us, that Barry is like so muck like the rock of gibraltar in midfield its ridiculous. However, I've got a question about his style of play.

Is it just me or are we seeing him going on more offensive raids this year? It seems like last year his role was to hang around a few metres outside of the penalty area while Nasri, Silva and Kun were making their tippy tappy thingie, so that he could pick up the ball and give it back to them if it bounced away. This year he seems to be moving towards towards and into the penalty areas, often around the corners of it. Am I making this up or have anyone else also noticed this?

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Barry's always gone on surging runs but most of the time he never gets the ball. He does however, take a defender with him which opens up the space for others. I think we seen a more defensive player, in parts, last year due to his injury which didn't allow him to do the sprints (chuckles) upfield. This year, he seems a lot more assured.

Anyway, quality player that does so much for our formation. Love the guy.

For me possibly our most consistent performer over the last couple of seasons.

Barry is such a key player for us, but he does seem to be moving forward more this season.

Perhaps he feels the need to get involved even more as Yaya and Nasri aren't doing much most of the time.

Always pleased to see his name on the team sheet.

Don't really want to see him bursting forward too often, isn't he supposed to be covering the full backs?

Barry is a cretin. I love it when his name isn't on the team sheet.

My favourite player is Kolarov, so what do I know?

I've been sat here for 5 minutes trying to answer that. Go on, I give up ;-)

On a serious note though I don't like him.
I can't put up with the constant giving the ball away and handballs. He's got no pace at all.

Has anybody seen where Mase has gone, I think I must've hit the Foe button?

Ah well, I see no reason to change it now.

Barry has never had that much pace. As for constantly giving the ball away the stats seem to disprove that ...

He was venturing forward more last night because García was behind him at the base of midfield, and also because he was running intelligently into the spaces in the middle that opened up as a result of Balo and Sergio working the right and left channels respectively.

I'm sorry, I think you misunderstood me. I mean, are you disagreeing about the portion of people that like him or about his reliability?

Cool, that might be an explanation but he's done it the entire season hasn't he, not just yesterday?

Not that I've noticed, but if you say so.

We've played a flatter middle in general with two up front in most games. Barry and Yaya have sat and held whilst Silva/Nasri float and the full/wing-backs add width.

Personally, I'd like to see Barry sit in the middle, García sit on the bench and Yaya scaring the life out of lumps like Gary Caldwell and Ryan Shawcross.

If Garcia is judged like JL his bench might soon be the departures lounge at Ringway. Shocking last night, feel sorry for him he is that bad. Hope he gets it soon or cheerio mate.
