Abject Negativity

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Can I just add my penneth. 6th in the league, 1 loss all season (to a cheating bastard referee), team in transition only to get better, great infrastructure, great stadium, great fans, growing crowds, growing popularity, money no issue and I'm a fully fledged City supporter. What more do you want from a football club at this point in time?

All's I can say is, 'The Future Really is Bright, and It's Definately Blue'! No need for negativity in this camp ;-)

Hi
I became City fan 3 years ago when I moved to the UK, so I think that my view is from a different perspective than all 'local' guys. I went to almost all home games last 3 seasons and a few away games as well. I've chosen City for different reasons but one of them was 'legend' about great City fans etc. But I have to admit that I'm really disappointed of City fans. Almost every game I hear people slagging off players, moaning about play etc. Atmosphere on the stadium during the game is dreadful, people are more interested in buying chips/beer or leaving earlier than in supporting team (do not even mention singing, banners, flags, drums, trumpets etc). The only games I felt 'great atmosphere' were away games and UEFA Cup game against Hamburg. I really do not understand you. You support team with the great past (ok maybe not everything was great ;)), you have got a great stadium, you play in one of the best leagues in the world and now you are the richest club with a amazing and exciting future, you have got a very reasonable owner who will not turn City into 'circus' like mu or Chelsea (I hope so ;)). What do you want more ?
And I do not expect that everybody has to be optimist, everybody has right to has his own opinion, I just would like to see more joy/ support and less negativity.
Anyway I'm enjoying and going to enjoy every moment because this is really great time for City.

The fans who go to away games are generally the committed 'in it for life' die-hard types, so it might explain why you feel a different atmosphere from the City fans away from home. At home you get the prawn sandwich brigade (to para-phrase that RAG twunt) and more of the corporate light-weight types.

Since I joined here not that long ago i've seen myself as a pretty regular poster...but now I find that i'm not visiting here much at all due to the constant barrage of negative posts about the club I love

If we draw or lose I don't even bother coming on post match because the over reactions are a joke

The main offenders on here are laughable...we are in the transitional period of probably the best years in City history...only a couple of seasons ago we had Samaras as a first choice striker...yet you still moan and bitch

I wouldn't give a flying fuck if I had to wait another 34 years for silverware...I'm a blue....always will be...and I'll support the team through thick and thin...already have

So to all you glory hunting wannabe rags who demand instant success

Go fuck yourselves

This is something that is being dealt with. But everyone has to play their part. I think its time we tried to put it to bed and we not only get less extreem knee jerk posts about how much of a disaster this season has been, but we also need less posts pointing it out. Especially now the volume of such posts has been reduced. Now would be a good time for everyone to start discussing the beautiful game again.

Its nice that you are concerned about the state of the board though. The best way to fix it is to ensure quality posters posts quality posts both positive and negative, but realistic and based on facts (I can hear the laughing at that last part but lets try)

Fair comment, this is the best it has been since the late 60's when I was a snotty teenager playing on the street dreaming I was Colin Bell when I was really Michael Frontzek or John Maken or Vousa or another 20-30 choc teapots in our playing cabinet. Best group of players for many a year, silverware will appear very soon.

The thing that disappoints me most is that a lot of City fans appear to have lost their sense of humour. High expectations appear to make some fans tense

Great post, i too do not know what has happened to some blues nowadays but i think as soon as we land that first trophy the monkey will well and truly be wrenched from our backs and the smiles will return. The weather at the moment doesn't help though.

A good point there. We used to be famous for our sense of humour. Not that I am wishing we went back to the days of "good ole City - always good for a laugh - even when getting hammered" or "see you next year lads for another 6 points" or even the "everyone's favourite second team" tag. But the banter was a lot better a few years ago.

It used to be great back in the Kippax days..It didnt matter if i went on my own.I used to have a right laugh with the peeps stood next to me.We were never downhearted in those days..We used to giggle when Adrian Heath came on as sub but still used to give him a great applause.

I took a formal warning the first time the soft twat did that, for calling him a soft twat. A low ebb in Manchester City board management imo. That Hamburg game was about the most exciting in the last 10 years.

I think the whole fan experience has changed. Money has changed many peoples views, therefore I stand by my original standpoint of I wouldnt tell you lot if I won the lottery as many opinions change automatically. Just as opposing fans views changed as soon as we started to muscle our way into the transfer market. If it had been the rags or chelsea it would have been tolerated as they are known for it, however, how dare we?!!!! Therefore we are now the big bad guys.

With our own fans, the CITY experience has changed and its difficult as the news that our beloved club that was once laughed at and even ridiculed by opposing fans as they always coined the phrase "typical city", much as we did ourselves has now bulldozed its way into world football without doing anything but have a new owner. Our new owner is the one that has given us the pressure, our managers history has been added to that bandwagon, however, some of our fans have decided to read the tripe they print and regurgitate it. Which is why our fans our divided. In all my years I have never known a City divide like this and the only way this divide will subside is by MH winning a trophy ASAP or being sacked. I sincerely hope its the former as I would love to see City up there with all our "legendary" support pulling in the same direction.

Some may say he is not long term, however, he is here right now, so lets get behind the team NOW and reap what we sow. I can see some flaws but its nowhere near as bad as I read from the posts on here, we are not far from a very very good team that will be spanking some teams soon. I have every faith in the management team to sort out our little niggles and hopefully we will get all the right people fit at the right time and they will succeed. Come on City.

Wow he really got banned for that??? I mean you can get banned for slating City but not for humiliating a member on here and basically being a prick like a few members that I shall not mention? The mods on here really fucking are weird. If it's true R_I_G got banned for that then this place really is going down hill. Sure he's fucking lost the plot for saying it but ban him for saying it? WTF?

It's insane

City have lost 1 game all season, and have had a run of 6 draws at places like Anfield, Wigan and Villa where Utd and Chelsea got beat. Can you imagine the reaction if City lost a game at home?

Maybe the pressure of 34 years without a trophy, combined with the tangible possibility of breaking that duck has pushed a few fans over the edge.

Don't like the defeatist attitude whatever the excuse
