Are you not entertained???

Postby Sister of fu » Mon Nov 23, 2009 5:17 pm

With all the doom and gloom about I wanted to pose the question to the mases.

From a personal point view I'm loving watching City this season, yeah things are not quite on the button at the moment but I believe that things will click into gear. I have seen 30 goals at COMS abet some against but have some decent football with the Arse game being the stand out one for me. Great game and a great atmosphere.

City have only been involved in one 0-0 draw this season and have been involved in games where over 45 goals have been scored. I for one would rather support and watch City then someone like Bolton or Stoke.

For someone who has been watching City for over 20 years I'm loving it....sure hell beats the Pearce days. I'm confident that we will get it right with or without MH. Patience is the key and seems as it's been over 30yrs since we have challenged for a major trophy what's another 2 or 3??

I'm absolutely entertained. Some of the first games I went to as a blue were drawing 0-0 with Blackpool, getting beaten 3-2 by Forest, getting beaten 2-1 at home by Oldham. This so called crisis doesn't even compare to those days and there hasn't, in my lifetime, been a better time to be a blue. I wonder if some of the whingers experienced the true lows- I'm not including the obviously true fans like NQDP and Slim in this, just a certain element.

Six draws on the bounce isn't ideal but overall I see a very bright future ahead.

Very much so - I actually thought the Liverpool game was entertaining (more so in the second half) - one thing's for certain, we are capable of scoring.

Strange isn't it, us Blues used to entertain ourselves and didn't need anything from the pitch to enjoy ourselves. How things have changed eh? Somtimes this season, I've thought that our sense of humour has deserted us, especially at CoMS and I think we have as much a part to play on the the field, as the lads themselves.

I've had a thing since when I was a kid and when I walk out onto the terrace, I have to shout at the top of my voice 'Come on City'. This hasn't changed for approximately 20 years yet a lot of the fans seem to have, giving me some very strange looks. Luckily, my best mucka is sat in front of me and when he hears me arrive he joins in the rendition, closely followed by a fair few around. It might be me getting a little more self-conscious or it maybe the crowd where I'm now sat, but something has changed at the game over the last couple of seasons. Hopefully they'll get the spirit soon and enjoy everything we have to offer, as I'm sure I was sat in one of those seats when I started.

I might start a campaign to 'Bring Back The True Blue Spirit'.

Apologies for the digression, thought it appropriate to mention though!

Entertained definitely, completely reassured, no.

I'd much rather have 'suffered' 6 boring 1-0 wins on the trot, but if we start to improve defensively game on game from hereon in and start winning again, then all is good, obviously.

UNbeaten in 6 sounds a lot better than 6 consecutive draws, but again, although think we'd all rather have lost a couple of games and been in 4th, the fact is we could have lost games, and should have won others in which the result has been 1 solitary point.

We keep making fundamental errors, and for all our attacking flair, are currently unable to take games by the scruff of the neck or see them out if we're in a winning position.

It's hard to be patient when watching what is on paper, one of if not the best team/squad we've ever had, and the doom-mongers will always have a validity to their arguments while we fail to convince. I think a point at Anfield is always a decent result mind, but in the context of the previous games it's not massively confidence inspiring. ONe way to solve that tho...hopefully Hull will be the kickstart we need.

I have to be optimistic overall. Having watched City for a similar number of years to you SoF, it does seem ridiculous to complain when such a momentous sea change has occured at the club. Essentially I agree with you: these things take time. Just hope not too much of it! Another 2/3 years you say? I could get run over by a bus tomorrow!

No I agree with you post. At COMS i feel it's still not quite got going yet despite being there for several years. Been only a few games iv been too when I think fan wise we've cracked it like Hamburg and Arsenal. Not really sure why it's like it is and don't really know what the answer is??? A trophy maybe???

Entertained in parts, teh first half of Liverpool game was a disappointment teh second excellent. If not for a tame clearance by Ned we could well have been excited over an excellent away result.

I keep getting the feeling we can score against anyone, so once the defence clicks we will be seeing someting I have never seen in my lifetime. I am a glass half full guy always have been, so I cannot wait. Mostly its excitement at what the future (and probably near future) holds.

And after going to places like Notts County this is heaven

Personally I've not been entertained since..... Probably west ham?! I seem to miss all the top class games and have to put up with walking away from COMS so angry and pissed off (e.g. burnely and fulham). Burnly was NOT entertaining. Wigan and Brum were also crap games. Although all the games up to and including the derby really entertained me.

City are probably one of the worlds most frustrating teams but i would not have it any other way. I still get that buzz now before going to the games or watching them on the TV. Can't wait for Hull game where I fully expect an exciting score draw...I mean win.....!!

Im deffo entertained, excited and enjoying the roller coaster ride of a season.I am a little concerned over all the recent draws, but id hardly call it a disaster and i know we are good enough to retain the lost points back in future games.
Really looking forward to Ireland and Robson playing together.I call them the telepathic twins. There linkup play is priceless.Hopefully we will see them against Hull.
Big shout out to Tevez.Boy did he hate being on that bench against the scouse.Fookin ripped them apart when he came on 2nd half.Keep doin the bizz lil fella.

That was pure entertainment compared to SP's last six months.

One of the things that I am really enjoying about this season is when we are challenged we respond. It is a hallmark of the top sides that they don't stay out of the game for 90 minutes, when we went behind at Liverpool I knew we'd hit back, we did it against Burnley(never should have been 2-0 down though) and had the derby gone on for a couple more minutes, I believe it would have ended up 4-4.

Agree with that, said to Mark on weekend we should let all teams have a 1 goal head start, that way we play from the 1st minute rather than the one after they score.
Tracking back is overrated.

Entertained?
I don't go to Football to to be entertained, the relationship is far deeper and passionate than the peripheral value of entertainment. I love the emotion of being deflated, let down and then exhilerated even if we have faced over the last 30 years too little of the latter. If I lost that sense of passion (even if it is more frustration than elation) and have to fall back on entertainment I will sit at home and watch tv and not make the 6hr round trip to see the games.
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)

I'm a bit more entertained than I was in that four month spell under pearce when City failed to score a single goal at eastlands.
or in Sven's second half season
Not as enetertained as when we banged in 108 goals in Division 1 or when we scraped back into that Division in the godknowswhatminute against Gillingham.
But I think I'm happier now
