Fullbacks are not good enough for a top 4 team, simple as that. The centre back pairing has started leaking goals. We had the best defence in the league after the first few games, hardly conceded a goal. Nedum is dropped, Dunne leaves, we buy £30m worth of talent to replace them, and end up with a shaky defence. That is where the problem is. This means the players in front have no confidence in the unit behind them, and so players like De Jong and Barry are scared of leaving the defenders exposed.
We need new fullbacks, and we need to consider getting a commanding Terry-type central defender to play alongside Lescott / Toure. Then the midfield will start to look more creative instead of looking over their shoulder to monitor the fragile defence.
I won't mention what we have learnt about the management, there is another thread for that :-)
I must remember to get a new signature.....
