Just read this article by the BBC's Phil McNulty, can't really argue with anything he says. Certainly more fuel in the fire for Hughes-sceptics like myself. I just have this overriding feeling of disappointment over the way this season's going.. and with Spurs currently 9-1 up against Wigan, another team we failed to beat - well it tells it's own story.

Im not sure what it is, to be honest - I think last season's away form is weighing them down mentally this season. They almost seem afraid to come out and dictate the play away from home. Then when they go a goal down it's like that weight gets lifted and they show spells of play a lot closer to the potential we know they have collectively. What we need is some way to bottle the spirit they showed at the swamp and inject them with it before every away game.

I feel The outside world is trying to put so much pressure on the club , i hate reading all these negative posts. In my opinion there just trying to get into the players heads and affect there confidence. And its why i get annoyed with people having a go at the players on here , because if you got your own fans saying how bad you are after a couple of games , you start to believe your shit.

I dont think we lack ambition at all , i think thats why we are turning so many heads all over the world because we are probably the club that has the most ambition in the world right now. Im still thinking there is a hiding coming to someone from city and also a run of wins is coming.

No more "classic" than the many posts comparing individual City results to the same fixtures last season, regardless of whether the opposition have improved or not and taking comfort from any improvement on our underachievements of last season!

McNulty is a classic after the event reporter. I think we all could have written something along those lines today.

Even more worrying .. I listen to the World service of the BBC (radio) and their sports report on the PL starts with information about the Chelsea win 'Chelsea stay top after fine 4-0 win' . United are still adrift despite their win . Arsenal surprisingly lose to Sunderland and Liverpool stay in seventh drawing at home. Not a mention of City at all !

They go on to mention that Spurs are playing today and that Aston Villa remain fifth with their draw at Burnley !

Apparently City didn't play yesterday !

I think McNumpty has underestimated Liverpool here. Even with injuries they are more than capable of finishing in a Champions League spot. We scored 2 away to them and started with Ade, Bellamy, SWP, Ireland, matching the ambition of any team that's travelled to Anfield recently. I'll concede we sat back a bit too much in the first, but Liverpool weren't exactly coming at us either.

According to him 2 months ago were we on course to finish fourth after a draw at a lesser team.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you. We should really focus on this season to date for City. The aim this season was a minimum of top 6, we are on course without having reached top gear yet - encouraging!

The spurs, city v wigan 'thing' was just hilarious - even you must admit that!
