Finally the stadium is being tarted up!

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Finally the stadium is being tarted up!

Postby thegoatfeeder » Mon Nov 05, 2012 3:06 pm

I always thought the problem with Eastlands was that it looked like a lump of concrete dumped down, and it was just grey and dull, but it's finally get a bit of TLC.

The entire exterior is being wrapped, and it looks great:

We also have a new Etihad sign and City vinyl on the main entrance:

Snapped the pictures today and think it looks really good, early days, but should all be done in the next week or 2.

There is a nod to St Marks as well on one section but I didn't get a picture of that, seems its going to be a timeline round the stadium.

Like it.

Does the 'Etihad Stadium' sign have to be taken down/covered up on UEFA competition matchdays, or is it just commentators and the media who have to refer to it as CoMS?

Really not sure, I know for CL games all Etihad branding is covered, but I don't see how that can be, its a huge neon lit up sign, will have a look tomorrow night.

Platini has stipulated that on European nights The Etihad Stadium is to be referred to by both commentators and journalist alike as 'The Evil Empire Stadium'.

Is it paintable ?

A bit of blue paint here & there wouldn't go amiss.

Swales may have been a lying, money grabbing, wankstain but he was always handy with a bit of blue paint.

it is central bob - i think that the confusing phenomenon you're experiencing there is known in the photographer trade as "an angle".

Thanks for that. Interesting to know.

One of the blessed things about being born in '85, and growing up with football post-Heysel, with over 1200 miles in total to see City play 3 times per season since I was 11: Europe really means less to me than this.

It was definitely central when I took that picture, but I just did it quickly when I was going in so didn't bother standing centrally in front of it, it looks better than in the pic.

Personally, I am dead chuffed about the stadium makeover.....and...ahem!.....I had the idea of a City history time line quite a while ago.

All the shit about City having no history really pissed me off. I suggested that the club should do something tangible to assert our long and successful heritage.
My idea was a blue brick path, starting from City Square, that wound round the ground in just such a time line, with engraved bricks, statues of the likes of Meredith, Doherty, Trautmann, Bell, interspersed with areas that celebrated our trophy wins and noted historic and iconic events.
I spoke about this to Gary James and a few others....I just wonder.....Garrrrrreeeeeeeee!!!!

Blowin my own trumpet?......You fuclin bet i am....:-)....Just maybe?
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT
