Hiddink was put on red alert by Chelsea in case Ancelotti didn't come off but it appears Mr Ancelotti is flavour of the month at the moment. With that in mind, Guus must be dying for a good opportunity???????????????????

Would deffo be a better choice for us however our owners don't look like they care what Hughes does wrong right now. We could get fucking relegated and he wouldn't get fired.

I think he's going to stay within international football, so that's not actually a bad shout. Wonder whether the Sheikh could have any pull in getting him involved with UAE though?

That would be very benifical for them, especially with all the money he's throwing down to develop the youth around those parts. Hiddink is very very effective at making international players play together, and i'm pretty sure he could have a decent run with almost any international team he manages.

Outside of the Netherlands, Hiddink has won 1 FA Cup (with an already assembled and gelled squad) and a European Cup (21 years ago).

That's for the Hughes thread. Hiddink has hardly been a modern 'great'- apart from trophies in a weaker league, Hiddink has won 2 cups in a managerial career spanning almost 30 years.

Hiddink has a great reputation for doing great things with average to decent squads at international level. Think he's a good manager, but I also think he is better suited to international than domestic. It was hardly a tough gig at Chelsea was it?

He took over a squad who have a core set of players who have gelled, expect to win trophies every season for the last 4 or 5 and were in a great spot in the league.

Are we at that stage now?

A big massive yes please. He would be a wonderful short term fix for us. He'd give us a wonderful 3 seasons before retiring.

Who next, then? Undoubtedly baconface will have retired/died in an unfortunate cheese-grater related incident, as well as several other managers leaving their posts. Mourinho et al will possibly be settled in a new job, essentially leaving us back at square 1. Let's hope Paul Ince steps up to the plate in that time.

it just needs someone to get the best out of the players (who undoubtedly are very talented individuals) which i think hiddink could do.

One of the best if not THE best manager around. Just the kind of manager who could get punch of players like we have playing winning football.
