the one thing stevie has always been is completely honest in his interviews and he should not be slated over it. he is saying what other players are probably thinking and he is not worried about what it will do to his "image".

he is invaluable to our squad and i dont think he ever gets the credit for the work he does, he finds space, he always seems to drop into the right positions and he is very good at dragging their players out of position. people seem to think that since he is not making 60 yard runs into the box, he is playing shit, but their is so much more to his game.

Didn't his girl have a miscarriage? Also, people get this wrong all the time. HE himself actually didn't make up the lie about his nan. I'm certain in an interview recently he stated that it was his girlfriend who rang up the FAI and told them that his nan had died. Okay he went along with it after he found out it wasn't true, but he didn't make it up.

to be fair, both the papers and our player of the year are known rags.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

So in the N'gog thread you say you don't mind cheating, but now you're saying you're not impressed with lying? Your double standards are very impressive, especially when it just happens to coincide with slagging off Ireland again and yet supporting the actions of another teams player

I said I dont mind cheating if a player gets away with it.
Lying to me is a diffent thing but I suppose if someone gets away with it then I have to accept it.
However Stevie hasn't got away with it in my opinion he has been caught out or confessed in which case it is a mistake.
And if calling someones loyalty to our club is the best you can do hardly seems worth the reply, but hey I've bitten in this case.
And why should I give a fuck if he plays for Dub's country or not, I dont know.
I just like seeing our players, in one, of, to me, the best competitions in the world. The thought of one of our players not wanting to take part in it seems somewhat of a flaw in that players character.
And the player I had in mind when he mentioned a 28 yr old was Dunnie(who is a legend in some peoples eyes).
So I wasn't to impressed when Stevie decided to call him.So this sticking up for Elano I'm not guilty off its just some petty excuse you have dreamt up.

Ferguson hit with FA fine and ban

Ferguson launched a stinging attack on Wiley's fitness on 3 October
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has received a two-match touchline ban for his comments about referee Alan Wiley's fitness.

The Football Association handed the 67-year-old a four-game ban, with two of those suspended until the end of the 2010-11 season.

Ferguson has also been fined £20,000 and warned about his future conduct.

He made disparaging remarks about Wiley's fitness after his side's 2-2 draw with Sunderland on 3 October.

Ferguson apologised to the official for any embarrassment caused and pleaded guilty to the FA's charge of improper conduct, but requested a personal hearing.

Peter Griffiths QC, chairman of the FA's four-man regulatory commission, said: "Each member of the commission recognised Sir Alex Ferguson's achievements and stature within the game.

"Having said that, it was made clear to Sir Alex that with such stature comes increased responsibilities.

"The commission considered his admitted remarks, in the context in which they were made, were not just improper but were grossly improper and wholly inappropriate. He should never have said what he did say."

The suspended sanction will be automatically activated should Ferguson be found guilty of a similar charge before the end of the 2010-11 season on top of any sanction imposed for that offence.

Referees' union Prospect had called for Ferguson to be banned from stadiums during his team's matches following his criticism of Wiley's fitness.

606: DEBATE
Should have been banned to the stands for the remainder of the season

Staeh
Ferguson launched into a furious attack on Wiley in the wake of his side's draw against Sunderland, fuming: "The pace of the game demanded a referee who was fit. He was not fit."

He later said he was sorry for any personal embarrassment caused to Wiley, claiming the comments were to highlight "what I believe to be a serious and important issue in the game".

But Alan Leighton, head of Prospect, felt Ferguson's apology had been "half-hearted".

He called on the Scot to receive an enhanced ban, as opposed to the standard touchline ban which allows managers to observe matches from the stands.

Leighton later told BBC Sport: "We think that the attack on Alan Wiley was an attack on his professionalism, struck at the heart of his professionalism and was totally unwarranted.

"Since then we believe he has broadened out that attack to talk about the fitness of other referees and hasn't retracted that main allegation that Alan was unfit.

"Some people suggest it is us picking on Sir Alex. I'm not interested in previous. If this had gone unchecked, other managers would have felt able to make similar slurs and that fundamentally brings the game into disrepute."

While managers are allowed to comment on an official's performance, the FA insists any remarks must not imply bias, question their integrity or engage in what could be construed as a personal attack.

Ferguson has a history of improper conduct charges for incidents involving referees.

In the 2007-08 season he was given a two-match touchline ban and fined £5,000 for a rant at referee Mark Clattenburg during a match at Bolton.

And during the last campaign he was banned for two games and fined £10,000 after remonstrating with referee Mike Dean after a match against Hull.

Some of our fans are much more interested in slagging of CITY / Hughes in whichever order and this sort of thread exposes that

You missed the 'not so subtle' message - which was the the same statement to you guys - shallow - negative and anti_CITY bollocks that it is

P.s - the fact that you make a cheap comment without actually dealing with the question only confirms my view

I wish he would stop attempting to kiss Hughes's arse (we all know you were a scum fan Stephen, don't keep mentioning about their past players to convince us of your alliegence) and try to turn in the odd good performance instead.

Hughes couldn't take a side that won a League Cup under the genius that was GRAEME SOUNESS.....to another Cup Final, let alone win a fucking thing......so stop this ridiculous dream that he is capable of taking us any higher than he has ever taken anybody, which is midtable.

Not Anti-Hughes, just Anti-Mediocrity

Superman???.....is this the same Superman who only bad-mouths players when they have left the club and miles away from him, so that they won't beat him up?, or the Superman that beat you, Wonderwall and LAHAD to getting his head up Hughes's arse first?...or the same one who couldn't remember which of his two Grans died, then couldn't think of a illness that sounded like "died".......or the same one who has been all mouth this season about what he will do and when, and ultimately delivered very little?.

Is that the one NikNak?

I am not sure I can take what this man says anymore with any honesty, first he slates Sven after he leaves saying that Hughes focuses on proper football issues and is a real manager, (remind who has won more trophies as a football manager Stevie??), then today accuses Giovani Trappatoni of being "amateurish" in his apporach to Ireland selection teams, and that lads from Cork are discarded more than those from Dublin......who gives a fuck where your from unless it is the French manager, who selects sides based on star-signs.......maybe the lads from Cork are not as good as those from Dublin.....this again is only when he has left the Ireland scene, and also a man like Trap to be amaeturish shows me what Stevie Ireland REALLY knows about qualities of football management, this is a man who has won more medals and trophies as a manager than Irelands has had hot dinners.

So when he comes out slagging of the likes of Dunne (funnily how only AFTER he has left he says this!) and yet Hughes is meant to have said all this stuff to them last year, and also Elano is another one who gets a gobful from him, and yet he waited until he left the club before he ran his mouth to the press..

I do wonder though, if Hughes will do with Ireland what he did with Elano last season when he went to the media and fine him or repremand him, as surely the precident is set now, or is it?
