In the 1960s ManU had not established the domination let alone world domination they've had under Ferguson, while City had not had the years of utter bleakness and cock-ups that saw us down in the Third Division and at places like York, Wrexham, and Wycombe. Then again as you rightly guess, John, in the '60s anything was possible, we were younger and dafter and had better music too. And now I recall it, the '60s also saw my old rugby league team, Swinton (not yours, I know, as you chose the red side) come from nowhere with a wonder team that knocked the big boys off the top. And of course back then we hadn't learned that life can knock you sideways, backwards, and shitless from time to time. So you decide not to tempt fate, choose not to be like the arrogant reds with their "20th championship" t-shirts already printed weeks ago. You wait, because on Sunday City's eleven players have to beat a team of another eleven players who all have the same number of arms and legs and feet as City's do. And then at around 4.49 p.m, THEN I will laugh and shout and cry and sing "City, City, the best team in the land in all the world", because then it will be true.
