Chelseas transfer ban suspended

Chelseas transfer ban suspended

Postby Blue2 » Fri Nov 06, 2009 11:40 am

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) has granted Chelsea's request for their Fifa transfer ban to be suspended pending a final decision.

Fifa had ruled the club could not sign players until 2011 after inducing Gael Kakuta to break his Lens contract.

But Chelsea appealed to Cas, which said on Friday: "Such sanctions are now stayed until the Cas renders its final decision in this matter."

The decision means Chelsea will be able to sign players in January

What a surprise!

Bugger Bitch Cow....Cock Bastard

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... ster_city/

So this basically means they won't be weakend in the Winter due to Africans Cup. They can go out and strengthen by buying players like mad in case it does go belly up when the case is eventually heard

I am not sure if I am too bothered about this - might even prefer it

It depends on whether we feel we could / would win the PL this season

If we can - we would want them weakened - otherwise, recognising that January is a shit time to get players (the right ones) then I would be more interested in them being banned for the summer - hopefully they will be paying over the top for the wrong quality this January restricting the funds they have for the future and then the suspension hits them in the summer

I'm not sure about this being corruption to help the Sky 4, it's more just an indication of how ridiculously toothless these bans can be in the first place. I say this because there is a precedent from two other clubs that have had such bans in the past, Sion and Roma were both granted similar suspensions to the ban, which allowed them to sign and cover for when it kicked in. The only difference in the case of Chelsea is how financially strong they are - giving them prior notice of a ban ensures they will have no squad deficiencies. Most clubs would struggle to raise the funds to cover an emergency window before a 2 year ban. But you can't expect UEFA to take that into account.

I'm staggered that anyone is actually surprised by this news. Even the eventual outcome will result in a suspended transfer ban at worst.

the bad news in all of this is that the backlash will ultimately hit when City are found guilty of some bizarre loophole most clubs utilize but are never called out on, and then they'll give us the death penalty for like 4 windows or something retarded and by that time every fuclin billionaire in the world will own a footy team.

Can someone please pass the crossan? i'd like two more scoops please.

cheers

I'm not suprised at all.
It reflect most things in life where the rich and powerful get penalised in a welter of publicity...only for it to be more quietly rescinded, some time later, with a little less publicity.

Some things will never change.

he's had a strongly worded letter of apololgy from the FA. Probably

John,

Not sure if this has even been mentioned elsewhere, but I've been meaning to check. The previous championship winning seasons would have given us this many points (3 for a win)
1937 - 79 points
1968 - 84 points

Over the last few years, the winner of the premier league has got:
2009 - 90 points
2008 - 87
2007 - 89
2006 - 91
2005 - 95
2004 - 90

If we want to win the league, we need to stay ahead of the 1968 points (which was also from 42 games, not 38), by about 0.5 points per game - which means we're 5 points behind where we need to be. Time to turn those draws into wins, starting with a big one against Burnley.

The good news is, we would only need about 1.8 points per game for 4th and we're ahead of that, so, lucky or not, playing badly or not, we're on track for 4th if we keep this up.

Worth mentioning as well that we only drew 6 games out of 42 the last time we were Champs - and that was without 3 points for a win! In 77 we lost less games than Liverpool but 14 draws cost us the title.
