Balance and creativity in Midfield

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Balance and creativity in Midfield

Postby aristation » Mon Nov 02, 2009 11:03 am

I for one thought the injury to Robinho was not all bad as he appeared to be a passenger for large parts of the game especially away from home. What I (and I hope the manager) have learnt is the importance of creativity and balance in midfield. The lack of creativity in the last couple of games has been obvious with the fallback to the long punted ball.
We have lacked a truly creative player who allows the likes of Adebeyor and Superman to excel. I look forward to his returm in a 4-1-4-1 of

Zab,Toure,Kompany,Lescott
De Jong,
swp,Ireland,Barry, Robinho
Adebeyor

Bellamy Weiss and Petrov to come off the bench and Bellamy starting many away from home
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)

4-3-3

Given
Dum or Dee--Toure--Lescott--Bridge
SWP--Ireland--Barry
Tevez--Adebayor--Robbie

De Jong for the stronger midfields, we can play without Barry inspite of current trends. I wouldn't be opposed to playing Bellamy for Tevez, but Robbie is too important in attack to drop.

RICHARDS KOMPANY TOURE LESCOTT

BARRY

SWP BELLAMY

IRELAND

ADEBAYOR TEVEZ/ROBINHO

OBVIOUSLY WITH SWP AND BELLERS OUT WIDE, OTHERWISE ITS A BIT NARROW! THIS IS THE WAY FORWARD.

I don't think ANY side with Richards involved in is any way forward, he is as useful on the pitch as wheels are on a walking stick!.

Weiss (winger with pace, who can cross and would take on a full back causing the opposition not his own team problems).
Ireland (probably the most creative player at the club for midfield, but needs to buck his ideas up again to that of last season, but his runs forward are wasted with Barry and de Jong, who never see anything in front of them, only that behind and to the side of themselves).
Johnson (still one of the best young players to come through the system, can pass, tackle and has a great engine on him, wasn't likened to the King for nowt when he first came through, and he has bulked up more than before)
Petrov (best winger at the club, can cross, is quick and would scare the death any RB he faces, scores and is always a threat and outlet with the ball at his feet)

The place for the likes of SWP, de Jong and Barry on current form is sat next to the management staff watching from the sidelines.

"Johnson .....and has a great engine on him"

Not yet he hasn't , that's the fitness part he is slowly recovering.
