So..... yeah...... we kept a clean sheet, we didn't lose, we picked up yet another point away from home and we are 4th in the league..... Hughes Out!!!

I honestly don't understand why a lot of people are bitching...... ok we should be beating teams like brum, but look at the bigger picture!!!! We are currently holding down a Champions League spot, and we have a game in hand still. There is not one team that have lost fewer games than we have, and there are onlt two teams who have conceded fewer goals than we have. What's the need for all the drama FFS.

Fact is, we have had an easy start to the season and its going to get much tougher. Spurs, for instance, have played all of the "big four" so far, we have only played two of them. We are missing out on chances to build up the points tally, on current form there is no way we will finish top 4. I believe this is why people are not happy.

That's the problem right there. We were poor, AGAIN, for the fourth league game in a row. We aren't improving and that's the real problem. Like I said on another thread, I could tolerate losing few games if we are playing positive football and teamwork was improving but right now we have set of individually absolutely brilliant players who can't work together and play in formation that don't suit their strengths. Why hoof long balls when you got ball players like Barry, Tevez and SWP on the pitch? Why are distances between attack and defence so huge? Basically we defend with six men and attack with four instead of attacking and defending as a team.

We've spend 250m on these players Hughes wanted to bring in. Injuries is lame excuse when we got squad full of super talented players. Just look at what that line up yesterday cost. One or two injuries mean fuck all.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The amount of times I have heard "we are top four with a game in hand" over all the threads is ludicrous. Unless the season ends today of course...DOES the season end today? Cause that would be tops.

Brilliant, so the rags replacing Rooney with Owen doesn't weaken them, or losing vidic and bringing in brown?

Of course losing your star striker and your best defender weakens a team, don't be so daft.

We played poorly and all the players that played and the manager has to take the flak for that, but don't be so blind with agenda that you honestly think for one second that having Adebayor and Toure would not have strenghtened us greatly.

Look at what happens to Liverpool when they don't have either Torres or Gerrard. Look at what happens to Chelsea when they go down to ten men.

This is comical.

Not sure what that comment has to do with what I said?

I was commenting that before the season started people were suggesting that things would be positive if we are in (or about) the top four - which now seems conveniently forgotten

Lets change it then.

We are top four with a game in hand - and we have played 6 of our 10 games away from home.

Sounds even better now!!

I was talking to my mate who's a Brum fan today and he was pretty pleased to take a point from us regardless that I thought they could have had all three.

I haven't seen too many people mention the fact that BCFC played above their capabilities, they were at home, they have just been bought out and will have a shitload of wonga to spend in January which means that ALL of their places could be up for grabs so therefore there is a greater inclination to put a shift in.

I have listened countless times to City fans bemoaning the fact that the best teams take points when they play badly, we are not playing well at the moment but we are taking points, we are not losing games that in previous seasons we would have. That has got to be good for our confidence, that makes teams try that bit harder cos they are playing City, this is what the sky 4 teams have had to put up with for a decade or so and that's why they are still the benchmark to which we must strive. At the moment we are bang on course for a top 6 position, I believe that is still what the club expects for this season, fuck the fact that some believe its really the top 4 cos I haven't heard anyone from the club give that any credence.

I think we have only really dropped points against Fulham in the last four games and when the end of the season is reviewed I don't think many teams will get too much from Villa, Wigan and Brum away.

From a team perspective I think Gazza Bazza needs a rest as does SWP, I'd like to see Robby take over the left side position and move Bellers to SWP's position with Ade and Tevez up front. My final two midfield positions would be de Jong and Stevie, the back four is a little more clearcut with Zabba, Kolo, Lescott and Bridge.....simples

Can I pump it up a bit:

In 10 games we have gained 8 more points (and given up 10 less) than from the equivalent games last season.

Even Better?

Are well, if we're not playing well and we've moved up into 4th place, imagine how well we'll do when Hughes gets the team to click.

If he can sort out the mix in midfield and get Robbie and Ade back to full fitness we'll be rocking.

4 draws isnt the best return from the last 4 games. Am still more cheesed off with Fulham where we gave 2 points away. At least on Sunday we played shit but gained a point thanks to Shay.

YOU GOT TACTICS WRONG YET AGAIN
JUST LIKE LAST SEASON, THE TEAM IS GRADUALLY GETTING WORSE AS THE SEASON PROGRESSES, RATHER THAN BETTER.
IT WAS YOU THAT WASTED £18 MILLION ON CROQUE SANTA POO
WHY SHOULD A TEAM THAT WORTH THAT HAS HAD OVER £200 MILLION INVESTED IN IT, HAVE 'MORE DAYS LIKE THS' THAT IS NOT A FUCKING WINNING MENTALITY!
ONCE AGAIN HIDING BEHIND THE SAME OLD EXCUSES AS LAST SEASON. THINGS HAD BETTER IMPROVED, OR WE'LL SEE ANOTHER YEAR WASTED.

Totally agree with you mate, he frustrates the fuck out of me because I dont see his logic. Fair play he is being positive in a way, taking positives stating that we have picked up points away even playing badly. But this isnt what a Barcelona would say, and if I was a player I'd think he was happy with the score. I'd want him to come out with something taggart-esque and say he was pissed off that we hadnt won a game we should really be winning and that he'll make sure we dont drop points instead of making excuses for more shit games!!

Injuries do mean something look at the Scousers. same squad less Alonso, I know that is a very easy comparison, however this season Chelsea beaten 3 times Arsenal beaten, Rags drawing and losing 3 times we are not even at Xmas, the quality of the Premier is lower than most seasons IMO, However the teams sitting deep against us playing at 100mph will be something players and fans will have to get used to, this time last yr we had lost away games now we are draing them, that for me whilst the performances ARE WORKMAN LIKE IS A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.Villa drew at Wolves and Everton.
