Kare Ingabritsoon and Alfons Groenendyck have escaped the mess, so far.....

No idea how to spell their names.

Other noteworthy omissions: Gary Mason, Docherty (Tommy's Son, I think), Ged Brannan and Tony Adcock.

We have had more than our fair share of shite, of that there can be absolutely no doubt.

You can't squeeze elano in as a fullback just cos he played there once. That's like saying Niall Quinn was our worst keeper. Even though he wasn't.

Yes I can, as he played there once, not because of a red card but because he told the manager he could play there & the manager believed him & picked him as a right back. It was the worst right back performance I've ever seen anywhere. Gerry Taggart wasn't a left back either but another plonker of a decision saw him played there & engineer a 0-4 at Blacxkburn on the day of the Hillsboro tragedy. Thus, he squeezes out Stephen Jordan & Mark Seagraves, but only just.

Hold on!
Elano gave beautiful cross playing rightback to someone against someone. Scored winner out of it. Or equaliser. Or something. It was fantastic cross though. That much I remember.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Mase wrote:Was Eddie McGoldrick that bad? I was only a kid at the time so my memories are vague. But I do remember Nigel Clough being one of the worst players I've ever seen in a City shirt. Absolute shit house of a player.

I seem to remember some lad who got injured all the time? I remember he made his comeback and I was sat in the Kippax, the ball went to him and there was no one around him and he just went down injured. Scott Hiley maybe??

Mate, McGoldrick was probably worst player that ever played for us. Yes, I'm taking into account all the garbage we've had over the years. He was shitter than shite.

We've had "quality" selection of defenders over the years but can't believe no one has mentioned Tony Vaughan.

Also, I think Martin Phillips doesn't really belong to these line ups. Yes he was trash but people only remember him because of that retarded "10m pound player" comment. He wasn't really THAT bad. We've had worse.

christ almights the first two you mentioned were utterly dreadful. I honestly dont think any club has had worse players than us.

Edghill is on twitter and talks about city regularly. Used to feel so sorry for the lad.

I also remember thinking murtaz shelia was decent, seemed to be injured alot though.

Groenendijk is quite a decent manager right now in the Dutch second league and is a commentator on the Dutch (payed) football/sports channel Sport1 that (has the only rights and) broadcasts the Premier League games. Great to hear his preference for City in his commentary. Most are scum lovers and that makes watching the games with Fons much more enjoyable. The bullocks you here from Dutch commentators towards City, their players and what they should do is really unbelievable. And compared to many others named in this thread Fons was at least 'cheap mess'.

And a bit off topic, but one of the weirder Dutch TV moments is this interview with Kiki Musampa about rasicm in Spain. In this clip the interviewer (Humberto Tan, quite famous in the Netherlands) and Kiki are talking about a racist incident in a Spanish game and the interviewer is trying to get out of Kiki what they are saying exactly (from around 0.20). The interviewer is saying 'I'm really curious what they are saying'. Then Kiki says, it's different in Spanish. So the interviewer says: Say it in Spanish! (0.28). Then Kiki says it. When the interviewer repeats it in Dutch (0.32) Kiki thinks he is abusing HIM. Look at his face. At 0.39 the interviewer get the wrong interpretation and says: You think I was saying that to you? No, no etc. and it's all sorted out.

But, this shows Kiki isn't one of the sharpest tools in the box.

Good player in Spain though. Terrible at City (I had my hopes up, 'cos I always hope the Dutch do well)

I tell you who fucking stank back in the day....Steve Kinsey. My 18 month old son could have knocked him off the ball. Worth a mention would be Shinton, Christie, Megson, Daley and the stickiest of sticky skid marks for me would be Frontzek. Bobby McDonald wasn't the most mobile of human beings was he?

Imagine a forward line of Corradi and Lee Peacock. Go on, imagine it. Now shudder, remember everything's ok, and have a cold beer.

That is one terrible terrible team! David Brightwell did an ok job now and again though, I thought. OK it's on the 'hardly ever' side of now and again. But still.
