Lack of creativity

Lack of creativity

Postby Fidel Castro » Sun Oct 25, 2009 5:11 pm

Why is it with all the talent at our disposal, we have been playing with a lack of flair this season? I actually think we were more exciting to watch last season. Most of our goals lately have come from set-pieces,something we could never do before, but how many chances do we actually create from open play? It's frustrating as fucl.

And another thing, people were saying we don't miss Robinho. Given the fact nobody else has the ability or class to create anything whatsoever recently, I have come to the conclusion those people have shit for eyes.

We miss an in form Ireland or Shauny and certainly missing Robbie, but we had enough to score two goals today, it was our defence that let us down.

agreed. Tevez has about 1/millionth the final touch or Robson. love him getting into some of the space he gets into, but he does fuckall with it for himself or others.

love to see Robson back with him and Ade to see if that changes things up a bit.

the sobering truth isn't it. How to fix it is the question. They've had plenty of time to gel and get to know each other's tendencies.

Tevez can do some great stuff but he's been a bit dissapointing so far imo. Gives the ball away too often, usually after running around in a circle for a bit

i have 2 rag mates who keep telling me what a headless chicken he is, and there is a certain aspect of that which is true. mostly sour grapes from them i think but he does fit the profile. If he can find someone of quality to relieve him of feeling the need to always make something of nothing then i think we'll see better results from him.

Agree 100%.

I blame the 442 -system. It has got us results so far but we were by far more entertaining last year.

ireland has it all. however, if the team resort to pearcian route 1 when he comes on, effectively bypassing him, i would have to question the intelligence of the hoofers and the manager.

I thought early on the best approach may have been to allow Fulham onto us and clobber them on the counter which would have been playing to our main strength of pace, which is precisely how we have achieved the best results home and away this year.

The number of times the ball was launched up to Ade today in the absence of any other ideas from those on the pitch was frightening. I can't believe we have 4 former club captains on the pitch of the caliber of Barry, Given, Toure, Lescott, and particularly the 3 latter players didnt have the intelligence between them to realise that the big hoof was not working.

We have the invention on both wings and in midfield, but I think the problem is that teams like Fulham will come and park the bus and we didnt have the guile to work the situation to our advantage. I dont necessarily think its creativity we need, just some players who has some brains.

in my opinion starting every game with two defensive midfielders puts us on the back foot from the start, we leave gaping holes between midfield and attack, most of the top teams have at least one attacking midfielder as we had with ireland last year

We had 23 shots at goal!! Creativity isn't an issue, finishing the chances we create is.

sum up of the game as i saw it

Postby CITYSTEVEDON » Sun Oct 25, 2009 7:23 pm

fulham was there for the taking, 3 games in 6 days and we didnt have a high tempo all bloody game. some of our play was quite good, but most was a stroll for us. yes we should have a pen and i thought richards had a perfect goal dissalowed. but then we score two goals and then defend like kids[ sorry kids ] where the hell was our defence for both of there goals. we have enough players who have a lot of speed, and what do we do with it, play it slow and backwards and we slow the play down. bloody hell, we should have gone at them like a bloody runaway train. too slow city, you MUST DO BETTER 5/10

we should,nt be playing with 2 defensive midfielders at home to fulham.
1 should be enough, versus scum scouse1 chelsea maybe.
and ireland should be startiung more games if hes fully fit.
but bad defending cost us today, lescott benched for me , kompany in for next week.

Ireland is clearly not 100% and they need to get him sorted, think his training regime may have gone too far and he needs careful handling the next few weeks if his season is to be saved. We miss Elano in games like todays but his reasons for leaving were clear enough and we have to move on. Robinho will be a breath of air when he returns.

r.e the point about " 2 defensive mids"...

Whilst I agree that we shouldnt 'need' to use De Jong at home to Fulham 2 things stood out:
- We went to shit when he came off
- Ireland all season has looked like Clark Kent in the 442 as opposed to Superman in the the attacking midfied 3 of last.

not sure what the answer is (433?) but we are lacking in the centre of the park at the moment IMO
