Ned's mom got Gary Cook fired.
That happened because he was in dispute with the club and was willing to burn any and all bridges at that point. I'm not suggesting that he's being punished, rather than something had already happened by then.

Ned hasn't been fancied since the word go - which I find strange as I think he's a really capable defender, appeared to be happy as a squad member, a blue and he's homegrown etc
ted - I haven't thought a huge amount of toure from the word go to be frank - I'm writing him off now as I think we can get better

it wasn't Ned who bollocked mancini, it was our old friend, Bellers who shouted at Mancini, "you said he was slow, he's the fastest in the club you twat", or words to that effect, according to those sittin nearby.Posted on bluemoon, I think. And Yes, I reckon Ned is better than Savic.Kolo, been an accident waitin to happen and it usually does, for years. And ofcourse the real worry with Savic is that Bob sees him as a chumps league centreback cos of his composure on the ball compared to Lescott. I feckin hope he's seen the light now.Wouldn't the sensible option be to move Micah over in an emergency and play Zab rb?Or even Savic, lol

In the main, we need another centre half. Vincent is gone, still not convinced by Lescott, Kolo can't cope with physical strikers, whilst I don't agree with writing Savic off, he's definitely not ready yet.
I still think we're missing a vidic/terry/carragher style centre half. If they could play, even better, but we want someone who can bully centre forwards. The lack of goals our centre halves get shows the problem at the other end. We generally get away with it but balls into the box cause more problems than they should. Of the ones at the club who haven't sold their souls to the devil, Micah would be the best bet. However he looks to have right back seen up.

It was only one match. Lescott is playing well, their partnership is almost the problem, hard to give anyone else a look in.
The backup situation is unquestionably inadequate at the moment but in the short term we could see improvement from Toure or Savic and maybe Richards would also be an option.
I'd fully expect Ned to be moved on in January, which means we'll probably need someone though.

So do people still think savic will NEVER make it? Or has people learned to give a 20yr old in a new country more than one game to judge him?

Ted was right on the money after the last debacle and one solid game doesn't change that.
Lots of players have talent, a lot fewer have consistency. We are building a team with both and players with only the former get shipped to Aston Villa.

So one bad game and someone should be sold, but one good game and people shouldn't get ahead of themselves?

He reads a game very well, and has done all season. I like how he uses his body intelligently too, either as a obsticle or to deflect the ball to a team mate. I can also see why Bob wants him to be a success in the first team eventually with his ball playing skills..

Wouldn't that be the very definition of inconsistency?

savic was excellent tonight. well played young man.
It's not that I like to argue, it's just if someone slags off and claims that a young player in a new country will never make it after a quarter of a season.... they should have an answer when the player inevitably starts to do well

Inconsistency as in attitude from the fans or the performance of a young, improving player?

One good game is no guarantee he is going to make it just as one poor game is no guarantee that he won't. It's too early to tell as we need to see him have a run in the team against varying opposition to make a true judgment so your point is invalid

Totally agree. I think he's a prospect. I really like him, he's very calm. I can see him a starter in the next two years or so.
