Have just been discussing Nasri with someone then spotted this thread. Don't want to slag him off, but something's not right at the moment.
It could just be he's still adjusting to a new team and style of play, but I don't think we've found the right position for him yet. Worryingly, I'm not certain how he can fit into our system.
One of the things he wasn't happy about a Arsenal was being played out wide. He's had that role for us whenever he's played. I'd guess his best position is the Yaya one, just in front of the two midfielders, providing support to to the front players. Maybe when Yaya goes to the ACN, we'll see what Nasri can do. However when Yaya's back, since he never gets rotated, I'm not sure where Nasri can play.

If he had been ominous I don't think we'd have a negative thread about him!
I don't think he was any worse than Aguero today, but he could have done more.

He will be a massive hit for us and just needs games to sort himself out.
Totally agree with this.

I think Mancini will start Nasri and De Jong against the Gooners; perhaps start Silva on the bench.
I was very sceptical of Nasri when every Gooner fan was creaming themselves over him in our game at Highbury last season; of course now they lost him their official line is "we were glad to be rid of him"
As with Milner, I think Mancini will gradually find a fit for him.

Milner is a good example I think . Nasri will probably come good, like Milner, after a settling period but will not be a superstar like Silva; more a top quality team player who is an important cog in the machine with a bit extra here & there.

When we signed him I thought we should have gone for Mata instead. I still have this opinion. I hope to be proved wrong at some point.

Completely agree. Will give him time to settle (see Dzeko, Milner), but I'm still not sure why we went all out for a player who's been severely out of form for the better part of 9 months.
Spurs game aside, he really hasn't offered anything. It took til the 40th minute for any of the people I was watching the game with this morning to notice he was even on the pitch.

Between dzeko, balo and Milner I hope I've learnt my lesson about judging too quickly.
I also like to think the form were in takes a lot of hard work that won't be easy to adapt to in the 1st weeks/months.

His best attribute this season is that he's not playing for Arsenal, cause he might actually be doing well for them.
I honestly don't know what to make of him, but I thought him a better player than he has been displaying so far for us.

i expected him to at the very least be able to fucking cross a ball, and to track back and win some balls...those skills have been locked away for some special secret occasion it seems. I'm still sitting here in my party hat with my party blower waiting to celebrate. i remain defiantly optimistic just cuz.

That's kind of it. Imo our system means that you have to click into it otherwise a lot of play passes by, you also have to be confident that you are aware of what everyone is doing and going to do in movement terms, the better you know the easier it is to slot in and make those split second decisions. City's play is all about everyone else not all about you.
The other thing imo is that there is the pressure of playing at the top of your game or you are history.. mix of transfer fee and the ambition of the club.
Drop Milner or Nasri into the Villa team and they would run the show from day 1.

He's showing the same kind of form that he showed when he first signed for Arsenal.
Foreign players during their 1st season have a valid excuse regarding settling in, Nasri should be
"on the ball" straight away if you'll pardon the pun.

I like your style. I was referring to Clough as a player who often went missing throughout most games and seemed to get in positions where he knew he'd never get the ball passed to him.

I thought you were referring to a player who was better than the one we bought. I was referring to one who was poor when he first signed but came good...very good.
But you make a good point, and he seems to be in blind alleys before he gets the ball. Never seen a player make so much effort to backtrack with the ball. However he is an exceptional talent and I think he needs to reduce his role this season and ease him in like the Wolves game, where he was quite good, League Cup game coming up he could take the primary playmaker role.
