I never said it wound me up, its just factually wrong, "we score when we want" on the other hand isn't, because we do.......quite a lot!

Surely the best reply to "where were you when you were shit?" is " we are not really here."
Anyway, "we'll score when we want" is a crap song. Bin it please.

The problem is that football fans have always been pretty shit at making up songs. Rarely is a new one made up, rather a chant that has been used before or elsewhere gets modified - sometimes in the pub before an away match - and that just gets taken into the ground. In fact it is generally a small number of people that start a chant and others simply follow.
I am sure that many on here used to sing 'You'll never walk alone in the Kippax' or 'We hate Nootingham Forest......" etc and this latest song is just probably a group of lads pissed before a game finding some new words to fit a current chant.
It is a shame, I really wish that we could think of an original chant that became an anthem - I admire that "The fields of Anfield Road" chant - it becomes a great background noise and cannot be really aped by other clubs.
And all this saying that "...they should stop it.." though - who? There is no hymn sheet that we select from and no 'commitee' that meets to consider which songs should be chosen and which ones should be dropped because fans on some sites find them less than appropriate - I wish there was some organisation like that!!
Perhaps we need to get 20 or so members on here that sit in the right part of the ground to decide on a quality song and get it going - most fans are just sheep (no disrespect here - I include myself) and will follow what people lead with

And some become associated with certain teams/fans.
Songs associated with the rags should only be used against them, to wind them up, not pinched off them & adapted for use against others. There is a big difference.

I agree in principle Ted but even is there was consensus to stop it how would that work - are any on here the guys that are at the heart of the singing in the South stand that start the singing? if people really want it changed there needs to be a way of mentioning that to the people who start it
If not I will try and 'have a word' on behalf of this site with whoever is leading the singing in the pub before the game at QPR today

One of my favourite songs by a long long way was - we lost last week and we lost today
It not only cheered me up after being tonked by Reading or some other world class team, but showed the backbone and class required to be a die hard city fan
Its a bit sad that supporting city is now as easy as being a scum fan, its a bit sad that we now attract fans who will never understand singing songs like the above, its a bit sad that we wil become smug and arrogant
Still...... we tonked Scum 1-6, we lifted the FA Cup, we are 5 points clear at the top of the prem - its not all that sad... really

That song had its moment at the Swamp. Let's move on. We've got better things to sing about.
