Daniel Sturridge

Anyone know if he's even played for Chelsea this season? Haven't been following them so I have no clue to how he's doing.

He did however score a hat trick for the reserves last month.

well, reserve footy is what he would have gotten here as well, so good for him for the nice lateral move.

Good luck Danny!

Sounds like he made the right choice then :/ Wasn't he playing for the reserves here when he was like 12 or something stupid like that? Oh well, maybe he'll join Burnley next year then him and Tyrone can enjoy each others company in the Championship!

Daniel Cockend. My brothers moved down to London and bumped into Studge in the barbers.. now my brother is a bit of a compulsive liar to be honest but he told me that Studge said he never actually wanted to leave but had no choice (Ahem).

This is a good move by Chelsea as when they get to the tribunal, they can say he isn't worth 10 million but only 2 as he is not good enough for the first team. They got him for the future (which seems to have come around sooner than they thought) and I can see him coming through the ranks in the next couple of years.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

About a year away I reckon, these sort of tribunals are very low on the FA's priority list.

Yeah, it's not difficult to imagine Chelsea will successfully appeal the embargo, in which case I don't see anything for Sturridge other than vegetation in the reserves. He'll probs last a couple of years in the hope that he has a breakthrough opportunity, before heading elsewhere. The funniest result would be if he went to Spurs or Villa or somewhere, so that he could spend a few more years on the bench! He needs to be the biggest player at a smaller team to get the adequate experience to succeed in the prem. He's not getting that in the Champions League placed squads.

How much of a dickhead does his "adviser" feel right now cos that comment is spot on.

I'm not sure.. could he have really? I think the talent is there, from what little I have seen of him in the past two years with us. But in order for him to develop, he must do what Di Santo is doing at Blackburn.. and he just doesn't seem to have the attitude to demand such a move. He would never crack the starting lineup here.. I mean really, how many proven strikers are ahead of him in ability? We'd have to have six of them to get injured simultaneously, before Danny gets to start.

For me, it seems as if he is comfortable coming off the bench on a good team, and mopping up. Ok.. if that's what he wants. But my guess is that there actually will be a time that he is called upon to carry the load up front for said "good team" (whether that's Chelsea or someone else), and he absolutely WILL NOT be able to do it due to inconsistent form resulting from inexperience/lack of poise.

I have to agree with you C&C. At this stage of his career Sturridge needs experience regularly playing.
It looks increasingly likely that he won't reach anywhere near his potential.
I'm not sure he would have done so had he stayed at Eastlands.

He definitely has some talent but whether that's Chelsea, rags, City level talent or West Bom, Birmingham level I'm not sure. I recon he's probably mid/lower table rather than chump's lg but you never know. Needs to be playing right now though.

Wigan would be a good club for him.
