Was waiting for your obligatory appearance in this thread making the same comment you always do.

If people want to leave early what's the point in going at all? They are shit supporters and they piss me off.

People go for 80 ,ins because they want to support the team but they also want to leave early. I don't think it's right, but the club are hardly going to force people to stay against their will.

Can't see why reallocating them isn't a good idea.

I think leaving early and leaving just before half-time is a throwback to the Kippax when you didn't disturb anyone by going up the steps for a piss/pint/pie.

It has not bothered me that much the few times I have been to the Etihad, but then it is only a few times and not the same people every week.

I can see both sides and to be honest, I can't be arsed getting worked up about it. Sorry.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

You mean the fans?

If it is a constant thing that happens every game then it is probably the same people doing it at every game, if thats the case then most will be SC holders. As far as im concerned if someone has paid between £400-£2500 for their seat they can leave when they want.

You dont pey a taxi driver to drop you off ten minutes from your house because his next job is in the other direction do you?

I was lucky enough to attend an ice-hockey game in New York last year and was amazed at the constant movement of the fans during the game.

People were coming and going with food/drink from before the game right up until the end! Even with only 5 minutes left you could see people coming back to their seats with armfuls of snacks and drinks. It was as though the hockey was a mere backdrop to their eating and drinking.

Maybe we're just going the way of the Americans?

Then you'd get leavers who want to leave before the early leavers.

Then we'd need another block for those who want to leave early before the early leavers.

And so it goes on until the point of parking up, and driving straight back home.

It's up to about 50% of the crowd sometimes who are gone by the final whistle so I doubt it would be feasible to relocate.

I just cannot get my head round it at all, why do people not want to show their appreciation to the players rather than sending a message that we don't really give a fuck if they serve up a footballing masterclass? Why if we are a goal behind or drawing do people not want to stay and cheer the team on and give them a boost to really go after a last minute goal? In seasons gone by our record for last minute goals is fucking shocking (I know we have a couple this season) and I doubt the two things aren't connected, the early leavers therefore are indirectly affecting results.

Doubt it's possible but it would be nice if there was some system of tracking those who stayed and awarding extra loyalty points to the people who can be fucked to watch the full game and can somehow manage to go 90 minutes without a pint/cig.

Probably the most realistic option would be appeals from the players on the screens/in the programmes asking for the fans to stay behind to cheers them on.

Doubt it will ever change but if there's anyone reading this who does leave early for any non-essential reasons then I would like to make them aware I hate them and I hope they catch some sort of venereal disease.

Obviously it's up to the person if they want to leave early. It's a totally alien thing to me thou. Someone likenend it to walking out of the cinima with 10mins to go which is the perfect analogy. I thinks its got alot worse since we've moved from Maine Rd thou ... plastic prawn munchers are sadly going to be a thing of the future at City ... it's not a comfortable feeling that alot of things I used to take the piss out of the rags for, are not becoming the norm at City <shudder>

i think the people who show up ten minutes late are just as bad, even worse maybe.

Kick off is always bang on time. We should be cheering the lads on as they come out and be right behind em from the off.

Either way, its a load of shit, and if you cant find a way to organise yourself to gain an extra ten minutes into your day to show your support, then you can fuck off for me.

Sometimes people come to the match straight from work, especially for midweek games, and it can't be helped.

Ha ha, like when Shinawatra raffled a car after the final home game and there were about 2000 in the ground to see it!

Yep I never understand that either, I went and had a piss and got a pie at halftime yesterday and was back in my seat with about 5 minutes to kick off, christ knows what people do if they're leaving 10 minutes before half time.

where do you sit mate becuase the queues behind 109 were fucking ridiculous at half time yesterday and i didnt even get a pint.

Re: Leaving before the end

Postby frozen_pea » Mon Sep 12, 2011 1:43 am

I didn't leave early at Wembley '99 and won't leave early now.

Friday night I started my first of four 12 hour night shifts, had 2.5 hours sleep when I got home after work, knew I wouldn't get home after the match to have another nap before back in work. I could leave early, get that jump on traffic and had some kip before work, but I refuse.

The worst I've done is when I was going directly to work after the match, I walked up to the top of the stairwell, watched from there, then when there was a deadball, moved one stairwell closer to the exit and left at the full time whistle. I've done that once and then I was still very close to being late for work.

One guy who sits on my row, missed 8 minutes of the first half by leaving early, got back 2 minutes late, for the kick off, so already missed over 10% of the 90 minutes, and left 7 minutes before the end.
He's missed 17 minutes of a 90(+5) minute match. He was a new season ticket holder (to that seat) last year, but I see those who have been sat near me since the Maine Road days leave 5-10 minutes before the end too.

The club have changed the car park exiting for this season, but the problem is the away fans coaches. The lights for Ashton New Road and Alan Turning way are held on red until these coaches get out, but held well before the coaches get onto the road.
This is a major cause, I've managed to get through these lights before being held, and it cut my journey time by over half.

Years ago, if there was fear of trouble they used to hold the away fans until the home fans has cleared out, can we not hold all the home fans until the away fans have cleared out and then no one can leave the stadium? Claim safety reasons :P haha
