Robinho to Barca? [MERGED]

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Re: Robinho (again)

que sera sera

I'm not overly worried. I don't think we would sell him unless we had something nuts lined up the other way.

We don't need to and, to be honest, I can't see the owners sanctioning such a move. I think Robinho wants to be told how important and "untransferable" he still is......I think he will be told just that.

We'll never stop this talk and Barcelona are cunts for this kind of thing but, hey ho, that's the price we have to pay for now playing with the big boys.

All I'd say is that if they want him and we'll sell him....it won't be for less than we paid

It's a sign of the times that we could get by without him right now, what a position to be in.

There is still (understandably) a mentality that assumes that Barca > than humble CITY - the press obviously and even amongst us fans - so if they make out some noises it becomes a given that they will get their way

But I think that our owners and our management team have a different mentality - the days we simply roll over are gone - so much talk goes on here that makes the assumption - but I do not think that CITY will sell any player - let alone a player that can make a real difference against top opposition and could be really important in the CL next year - unless it was really a deal in our favour

I like this new mentality!!

How long is there remaining on Robinho's contract?

I'm really, really fed up with knobinho personally.
I have always said he has to be 1 of the most overatted footballers ever.
He makes our team worse.
If he wants to go 'FUCK OFF YOU WANKER'.
We do not need big headed , unloyal wankers at our club.
Pack your bags and fuck off, the sooner the better.
Infact, Mr Hughes.
Please do this for him as i know for a fact Hughes does not rate Robinho.
And i would rather have Petrov on the wing then some overatted footballer who thinks he is god because he does 1 shimmy and a few step overers.
FUCK OFF ROBINHO.
THE SOONER YOU ARE OUT OF THIS CLUB, THE FUCKING BETTER.
WANKER.

Right, tin hat at the ready.

Robinho is a great player, on form he can control a game and inspire his own magic onto others. But I feel uneasy about having a player who doesn't have the desire to play for City. If his heart yearns for Barcelona what good is it keeping him with us? Having a big name has its benefits, commercially as much as anything, but as a fan I only really care about what happens on the pitch and how much productivity we get from each player- is being better than just about everyone half the time enough?

I'd still very much like him to stay, but if his heart's not in it I don't think it's worth forcing him to.

I would think it highly dubious to take anything you read in the papers so factually - and get such strong opinions - nothing formal we have heard from player or club indicates anything other than he is and will remain a CITY player

The days are gone when CITY get rolled over by any club / player - if we keep him for the next 4 years - he will perform well I am sure and be a big asset in the CL next year

If we sell, I expect we will get the best of the deal - cos that is the new CITY mentality

Whatever..
If he want's to go.
What's the problem?
Go.
He obviously is not committed to the contract he signed?
And he is not even our best player no more.
Never was, just a mith imo.
Sell him.
I won't be bothered in the slightest.
Many will be the same.

I agree.
It could well be media mis info.
But the sooner he speaks out publically to what they have written, no1 will be none the wiser.
I personally think he said this.

But he also says until a offer has been made he is committed to city..
Yeah fucking right.
I've had enough of him.
I'd rather have Petrov on the left and defiantly Bellamy over him.

Ok top scorer last season.
But.
I think he's a lazy 2 trick wonder.
Doesn't work hard.
Hardly tracks back.
Always gives the ball way.
I can see why Hughes does not like him.

Agree fully. And whilst our tabloids are scum bags, there's a lot of smoke with regards to this so maybe there is a fire. Also, he and his agent have had plenty of opportunities to come out and rubbish the speculation but they haven't.

I'd rather he stayed but If he goes, so be it. If they want him, we must make sure that Yaya is part of the deal.
