What makes you think she has less knowledge of players? Would a male manager coming from abroad know more about the players in the Prem than a woman who had served her entire footballing career in England?

I should really have said something like: could, as in hypothetical question? Yes, a woman could have the right skills and experience. Would, as in reality? Just can't see it happening, for the forseeable future, I don't think things have changed that much (yet). Maybe in the lower leagues, as a few have suggested, although if it were done as a PR stunt then it would be for the wrong reasons.

The chances of any manager lasting a few years in any job at any level is slim these days so the chances of a woman actually surviving the sack & if sacked, getting re-employed & being in that position in the first place is zero. Plus most managers from abroad sign players they know from abroad so they would have a much better knowledge of their squad.

Why not. She would need a team around her to compliment her strengths and weaknesses. If she needed a henchman or whatever someone could do that be it male or female. I doubt there are many football managers that handle everything on thier own as it is.

I bet she wouldn't be the worst boss in Prem history either.

I think the bigger question is after 1 got in and the media circus following it would more try and do it?

It would be very interesting to see how the media handle it, I imagine some would champion it as a major acheivement, but most would still be sharpening the knives ready for a fuck up. For a woman to acheive it she'd have to have a hefty set of balls in my opinion.

Is there a woman manager in the championship? or league one or two? I don't know for a fact there isn't one, but if we are looking to get a woman manager of a men's side, why are we starting with the top flight? I think if one doesn't exist in the lower leagues then the likelihood of getting one in the top flight is more than remote.

Yeah, agree with this.

Seeing that most premier league stars are rather spoiled, tantruming cry babies, snatched up by the world of professional football just after infancy - and not huge macho men - having a surrogate mommy telling them what to do, might not be too bad of an idea ...

Which chairman would have the balls to employ a woman in the first place? The game is all about money and results and everyone wants instant success. Chairman have had their fingers burnt by employing 'experienced' managers in top flight clubs like Paul Ince at Blackburn & Knob K#+ne at Sunderland so for anyone to take a punt on the female coach of the womans England team would be off their heads.
If Powell was prepared to start at the lower leagues and work her way up then, if she proved she can get results, then i think everyone will forget she was a split-arse but i still couldn't see a woman getting a job in the top flight. Way too risky.
She would have to get a Championship club to win the FA Cup before chairman of Premier League clubs would even consider it as an option.
Her main problem in managing ANY male league club would be the respect factor, having never played the mens game i couldn't see stroppy 18 year old kids showing her any respect at all for any length of time.

You are being out of order mate.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
