Kevin Ratcliffe has just been on 5Live and reckons that Lescott is only worth £8-10million but that Moyes will screw us for all he can.

Seemed very certain that the deal is going ahead soon.

Come on Vhero. No picking on spelling. That would be hypocritical.

I don't do spelling mistakes my browser won't let me actually (fire-fox spell checker rocks) so it would be impossible to make me a hypocrite. But as usual you falsify the truth to your own end for some lame reason. Besides there's making a spelling mistake then there is doing it twice in the same sentence? I didn't even realise who he was talking about which was an honest mistake but obviously you had something to say.. *yawn* why don't you go and start on somebody else instead as I don't have time for you.

Well I think he is right and we are making mugs of ourselves. I think we should withdraw our interest. Hughes must have a backup plan, time to implement it.

Fuck Kevin Ratcliffe. He's just bitter cos his team are shite. Lescott's coming to us. Yeh its maybe a little more money than Villa would pay for him but that's irrelevant to us. Getting the man is more important. Everton are in trouble and Moyes is losing his mind. He's made Lescott feel like a prisoner and thats going to have effected the whole dressing room. No-one likes to feel trapped. The players are seeing Moyes in a different light.

Oh Dear, hardly falsifying the truth, just a light hearted gentle nudgette over a three letter error and you get all sensitive.
As usual you had to go and say something...yawn , why don't you stop being so paranoid.

We should definitely pull out of the deal then.

Mark Lawrenson? Why does he get media time? Moyes is going to take more notice of us on here than that waste of (a lot of) space!

I was just about to post this....good article

I particularly like

What the Scotsman would do well to heed, however, is that in the summer of 2006 he approached Wolverhampton Wanderers in a similar fashion. He dangled a carrot in front of the then Championship side, and in front of Lescott, who was desperate to take a step up football's food chain.

City's sudden jump in status means that, despite what league positions and heritage may have you believe, they are now a bigger club than Everton. The Toffees, then, may be acting in a hypocritical manner by not only accusing their rivals of a 'lack of respect', but by standing in the way of a player who has exhausted the benefits of playing at Goodison Park.

It's got to be time to turn to other targets, with only a couple of weeks left. Lescott isn't worth £18m, so if Everton aren't willing to sell at that, just walk away.

Both Liverpool and united have been linked with Shawcross at Stoke (ex-rag unfortunately). I haven't noticed him previously, so have no idea how good he is, but I doubt he would cost £18m. £18m would let you buy most centre halves in the country

Would love it if we signed a quality CB from Europe then got Lescott.

If Lescott was at Arsenal he'd be considered "dodgy" or "accident prone" - alongside Upson he is the most criminally overrated target imaginable - £25fuckingmillion for that? If I was Moyes I'd have ripped Cook's arm off - he's not as good as Phil Jagielka for fuck's sake... he's literally getting bummed because he scored a few goals last season, usually at the far post arriving from the left back position, where he was playing because he's not that good a centre back.
England didn't qualify for the last major tournament because Lescott lost a header, in acres of space, to fuckin Olic. 5'8 tops that boy.

the thing that worries me is the effect on Ned. Lescott isn't a terrible player, but he's not even as good as Ned and would probably keep Ned out of the team, which seems stupid to me...

The whole point in Lescott is.

HE HAS A LEFT FOOT.

Having a lefty playing on the left side of defence balances the back four, plus he can play left back if needed.
Ive seen Neds play left back and in my eyes it wasnt a pretty sight.

Totally different kettle of fish, the odd piece of shit always gets called up to an International squad every now and then plus he was picked by Keegan.
Lescott has been in the England setup for a while now.

was aiming more for your left foot idea than his england place - which i've already shared my view on.
If you were going to buy an Everton CB, based on last year, it should be Jags. We should thank our lucky stars that Moyes has gone mental over this, leave the door open for Ned, and wait til someone actually worth anywhere near that money is available.

Value is what one club will sell at and another is willing to pay. Not what some twat in the media says, or even some distinguished poster on here.

I know City do put ceilings on things, but the money IS irrelevant if it will improve our team, as we are loaded. Other signings haven't been bad so far, so I'm willing to trust Les on this one.

Unless someone here has watched Lescott week in, week out, instead of watching City on matchdays? Otherwise our opinions are a bit random.
