Put it like this if I were to host a cup final party at my place it would have sufficiently more atmosphere than a last game of the season to make 4th party. There's a reason for that.
Tracking back is overrated.

So you are more concerned about what is good for you, rather than what's good for the club then?

This is true. Trying to score points off yer average rag by winning a domestic cup will meet with a similar response to the one Robbie Fowler liked to give them re chumps lg. They don't give a shite about either cup unless they're potentially trophyless in which case both cups become important as a face saver but nothing more. If we get in the Chumps lg however they'll be fucking livid.

I'm only interested in City anyway & CL qualification is the quickest way to the top. Those of you who want oneupmanship on the rags & think a cup is the answer are way off the mark imo though. Brag about a cup they'll laugh at you, qualify for CL & they'll be secretly gutted. The chumps lg is their holy grail, the idea of City competing for it is their absolute worst nightmare. It's the only thing they've got over us historically.

FFS...the rags this...the rags that...34 years this...34 years that....PUT THE FUCKING BAGS DOWN and open yer fuckin minds.

THIS IS ABOUT CITY...ABOUT THE PROGRESS CITY ARE MAKING...ABOUT OUR CLUB...NOT THEIRS...OR THEIR FUCKIN STUPID BANNER.
The whole topic seems to be contaminated with thoughts of the rags, what they might think, how they might react and they will have to remove a banner...whether they will take the piss or be frightened of us...WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK WHAT THEY THINK, SAY OR DO?
This is about City. I want to win the League because I support City> I want to qualify for the CL because it is the best competition, is the biggest test for City and carries the biggest accolade. I couldn't care less if the rags are in it, or if they have gone bump and no longer exist. I want City to win the CL...we are the biggest and best resourced club in the World...WHY THE FUCK SHOULDN'T WE.

...AND GUESS WHAT?...WHEN i SEE A CITY CAPTAIN LIFT IT, i CERTAINLY WON'T BE THINKING ABOUT THOSE RAG BASTARDS.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

Yeah, yer right Slim.
...and thanks for the reminder...Just taken the medication...nearly fucled off to bed and forgot....true.

I think many City fans are going to have big trouble dumping the old baggage and embracing a new mindset of success.
It is understandable that the rags have sat near the top of the stairs for so long that too many City fans feel the need to kick 'em down 'em, instead of concentrating on climbing up them them themselves.

When we occupy the top step, will it really matter what step the rags occupy...I couldn't give a fuck!

We haven't had success for so long, it's easy to start to see their failures as our victories. Mentality will change it will just take some time and not even was around to remember the last time like you. A couple of pots in the cabinet and you see the attitude change.

Exactly John people are not thinking about the bigger picture here with this question a cup is certainly not the answer. Top four would do wonders for City. Who give a flying fuck about the rags and about that damn banner its been there years already let it be there a few more top 4 all the fucking way.

I understand all the arguments about Top 4 and Champs League qualification. It also has the advantage of kicking one of the cosy club out and leaving them in the shit, but....
We have waited so long for that trophy and afterall, the aim in football is to win cups. That is what we crave as fans. Those are the days that make all the rubbish worthwhile.
John, I appreciate your points about not giving a shite about the Filth, and one cup is not going to make them suddenly respect us, but make no mistake about it, they will be gutted when we finally do win a trophy and you will hear them sqealing like stuck pigs. I will take a certain amount of pleasure from their discomfort. I think most of us would, that is the nature of being rivals, and we, more than most, have had to put up with some earache over the years.

So trophy for me, that would still give us Euro football, and in a comp we'd have a v good chance of doing well in. I want more 'Schalke' nights.

I would fly from Australia to see City in a competitive match at the Nou Camp, but for Schalke? Might get up and see if Vhero has posted a stream thread.

Point taken, but Schalke was the best experience I've had as a City fan in 35 years of support.

Good point, I was thinking about first time round. Forgot they were in twice! 2nd time was when they did that funny 2 group stage thing, was it?

Point proven! Leeds made it to Champion's League few times, big deal, very few even remember that athey were there more than THAT one time. Everyone remembers that Boro won the League Cup though.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
