Generally, people around my age (24) in Britain were brought up with the metric change affecting our education. Thus, we know people's weight in stone, but for other weights we use kg. I know there's either 14 or 16 pounds in a stone, and the opposite for ounces in pounds. A pound weighs 454 grams, I think.

I know people with GCSEs in French who don't have the vaguest idea where Paris is (apart from being in France, obviously).
