Milner to join city over the weekend.
18m + Ireland.
Potentially a good deal for us and the same for them. All in all imo an amicable solution to it all.
An unhappy, out of form Stevie goes and we get the prem young player of the season.

I could live with 18mill plus Stevie

are we not essentially saying then that superman is a 2 million pound player?
we offered 20 for milner initially, and now its 18 plus superman?
i would be unimpressed if that were a deal we agreed to.
yes, potentially we are getting the young player of the year for an out-of-form head case
but we are also potentially getting ass-raped if superman "returns" and we flogged him for just 2 million.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Like you said IF he get's his form back it's a shit deal but there's no saying he will, were as Milner has been doing it season after season for Villa.

It's still a shit deal. £18m is a lot of money, going right into the hands of a team who could really use that kind of money. Calling that deal a good one is like saying the £5m we got for Richard Dunne was a great deal for us. In retrospect, how many games would he have gotten for us? Villa almost made it into the CL and got ahead of Liverpool. Our manager got sacked and we struggled with 2 expensive replacements.
Stick Ireland in the centre of that Villa midfield with all that pace around him to run onto through balls and he'll rip up trees for them. He had a rough season, he was close to Hughes and it was a difficult adjustment. That's valuing Ireland at £6m. We should be offering £10m +Ireland, it'd still be a deal that Villa should snap our hands off for.
We made a great deal last year picking up Johnson for £7m. Milner is a good player, but for that sort of crazy money Villa will still do business at Christmas if we need him.

I think it`s saying Stevie is a 12m pound player to villa as they want 30m for milner. Depends how you look at it mate.

Milners price is high, not only because we are the buyers, but because Villa did not want to sell hence we have to pay over the odds if we want to acquire him.
If the manager doesn't rate Ireland, and its pretty clear he doesn't, then we are swapping a player who wouldn't be featuring anyway. I hope Ireland rediscovers his form buy who can guarantee it? He seems to need all the planets in alignment to piece things together.

Superman`s problem is his attitude. Remember when we played with scum, when Scholes score, he ran from Stevie like he was Usain Bolt. I think Ireland is suffering the "Robinho syndrome" and Mancio won`t allow it. Milner is a good player, but 30 mil ? Never. Capello substituted him in the first half in the game with USA, for his poor performance in a important match. If he comes to City, every match will be important, with preasure from the fans and media, what are the odds that he will "survive" this?

The Milner deal might still drag on, while Villa hold out for their 'valuation'. But MON is aware he needs to put that money back into action, so they cant wait until the end of the window.. whereas City actually could wait, rather not but could. So the cards are more with City as it would now effect Villa more to be scrambling to get players in and get ready for the season. They will cave in.
As for the Ireland inclusion speculation and rumours.. where exactly have people heard this.. the daily mail?
Again i will believe it when it happens and not before.

I reckon £18 Mil plus Ireland is a decent deal. Villa paid £12Mil for him and he has improved significantly as a player over the last two seasons. He is very talented, versatile and he creates and scores goals. He is also reliable, consistent and is as close to a sure thing as you'll get.

Milner was struggling with a virus the day before the USA game and Capello was an absolute rocket for playing him 24 hours later. Anyone with half a brain knows you need the best part of a week to get over the type of symptoms he was displaying. Yet, it just made it easy for Milner to be the scapegoat rather than Capello.

Khaldoon jets in to close Milner and Balotelli deals
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak is due to fly into Manchester on Saturday morning to seal the signings of Milner and Inter Milan's £24m-rated teenager Mario Balotelli.
He intends to sign Milner first in a deal worth £26m, with Villa receiving £18m in cash and City midfielder Stephen Ireland, who is valued at £8m. Villa had demanded £30m but believe Ireland could prove a bargain.
City and Inter are haggling over a fee for Balotelli, and manager Roberto Mancini said yesterday: 'Milner is like Balotelli. We are close. We are speaking. Probably Milner is closer than Balotelli.
'We want to buy Balotelli at the right price. We are close, but we have time. When we want to buy a player the price is not normal, but we want to improve quickly and to do this we must often buy players that will cost more than normal.'
Mancini insisted he has no fears over Balotelli's reputation as a difficult character. Asked whether he expected to find Balotelli troublesome, Mancini joked that the teenager's disruptive streak is nothing on City players Craig Bellamy and Carlos Tevez.
He said: 'I work with Bellamy and Tevez so it's easy (to work with Balotelli).'
Mancini hinted Bellamy, a long-term Tottenham target, and Roque Santa Cruz will be allowed to leave before the end of the transfer window. The City manager will also seek a meeting with record signing Robinho.
He said: 'We have to pick 25 players and we have 31. Some will have to stay off the list.'
City have already signed David Silva (£24m from Valencia), Yaya Toure (£28m from Barcelona), Aleksandar Kolarov (£16m from Lazio) and Jerome Boateng (£11m from Hamburg) this summer.
Bellamy and Tevez were at the forefront of City's open training session at Eastlands on Friday (below).

Is it a coincidence that both City and Villa's website are both currently down? Are we to get an announcement and maybe an unveiling at tonight's match-or am I being over optimistic?

Well something was happening at Eastlands this afternoon when I went over for me shirt, Entrance at the Merc Garage was closed and loads of suits and security milling arround the main entrance ...

dont really give a shit about milner, balotelli on the other hand. Has the potential to be the biggest signing we ever make. Ridiculously talented and young.
