Fuck mate that's the lamest opinon I've heard of late.

The premier league's opinion has oft differed greatly to mine. It settled nothing in my mind on many occassions.

I'm suprised actually.

Right yeah. But if they say its an own goal, then it's an own goal, whether you agree or not. as you know.

I know that alright mate, but the thread is asking what your opinion is that's why I'm suprised you didn't give one!

Is all.

Micah retains all of the credit for an excellent header though.

Yes it would, he wouldn't have pushed it onto the post, therefore it would have gone in. That's my point.

Yeah, that's actually another angle on it. It was on its way in before the keeper interfered with it. Yet folk will say its an own goal BECAUSE the keeper interfered with it.

Its an interesting one.

Just noticed that Micah was actually offside for the goal.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I too noticed that Micah was technically offside according to the new rules (which don't apply to Drogba).

Imo calling these kind of incidents own goals is ridiculous. It should just be the same as if a goalkeeper lets a shot squirm under his body etc. The goal was caused by Micah heading the ball & the goalkeeper failing to save it. Ridiculous to take the goal off him because it hit the keeper & bounced in. If it happened with a pen would it be an own goal? All goals like that used to be given to the scorer not the keeper.

Not sure of the technicalities - whether it's a black-and-white OG or if the 'dubious goals panel' (or whatever it's called) will sit on this one. Either way, Micah deserves the credit and I hope he gets it.

And how many headers is that so far this season? And set-piece goals? Or both?

Its an own goal the keeper who by the way is in goal to try to save shots and headers tipped the ball onto the post and if the rebound had not hit him on his bonce it would not of gone in so its obviously an og and thats a fact.

credit to micah for having a fantastic season so far.
most improved player for sure.
he's scored twice now, and not got credit for either.
i would have prefered zabs at the start of the season, but i cannot argue with micah's form.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

If Micah hadn't headed it, he wouldn't have had to save it. None of these kind of things used to be o.g's. It only used to be an o.g. when a player clearly diverted the ball into his own net when it was missing, or by sticking his foot out or heading it, ala Richard Dunne, not by the ball just hitting him or a keeper trying to save it & getting hit by a rebound. The words 'own goal' suggest fault. How is it the keepers fault when a ball comes off the post & hits him? It's only this crappy Sky era that's started taking goals off people & awarding them to defenders etc.

It did miss the net coz the keeper tipped it onto the post and only went in coz it hit him on the head if the ball had not hit his head or body it would not of gone in FACT.That why its an OWN GOAL.

Agree. It's trial by Sky, the same thing that might well do for Ade's challenge on Van Winkle. Micah deserves it, end of.

Dont get me wrong i would love Micah to be give the goal. But he wont coz its an OG plain and simple the path of the ball was changed due to the fact it hit Almunia's head if it did'nt the ball was coming back in the six yard box.Watch it again and you will see i am right i wish i was'nt for Micah's benefit but there it is.

It's only because they've started interpreting it that way. In the past the keeper's actions would've all just come under the one heading of making a save & in the action of trying to save it, got an unfortunate rebound & it ended up in the net. It would be treated in exactly the same way as if the same happened with a penalty. Ever heard of a pen given as an own goal?

Have they actually taken the goal off Micah anyway? They let Crouch have one that took 2 deflections when he was at Liverpool.

Me too - usually read someone else's at work - but for some reason from our first game this season I started to buy a paper the following day and cut out the report, not something I've ever done before...

Optimism creeping in you see; you're secretly thinking there could be history in the making! I used to do that in the 60's- 70's.
