Kangaroo panel finds us guilty

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The delay in reaching a decision, almost two years, makes me think this was partly about how the Premier League wanted to play this. If they came out and said we were completely innocent after spending years accusing us, they would look like clowns. I don’t think we will be found fully innocent, but I do believe some of the charges may not stick, particularly those relating to sponsorships and the way some of the information was obtained.

I also believe we know that Pinto, or whatever his name is, was paid to do what he did, and that could become important in the way some of the evidence is treated.

Moving forward, I think either the second panel or, eventually, the High Court of England and Wales could turn the current 1/5 outcome into something closer to 3/5 or 4/5. We might get a fine and perhaps a points deduction, say, around 10 points, but one carefully calculated not to affect our chances of finishing in the top four. Because if it did, we could make a very strong argument about the loss of Champions League revenue and the wider financial consequences.

At that point, I think we settle.

As much as I would love to see us go after the Premier League and really fight it all the way, I honestly don't think we will. I think we will probably take the easier way out: accept the punishment, avoid years of further litigation, and move on.

Not a fucking chance. We need to have everything levelled against us proven to be incorrect. It is now shit or get off the pot time. There will be no half measures from here, nor should we allow there to be.

Of course, but I believe 5/5 in our favour will be catastrophic for the Premier League reputation.
And they will not allow that and use every single card they have.

Lads and lasses, DON'T GET DEPRESSED.
Turn down the media hysteria, listen to news other than football and sit down.
Enjoy the show of our magnificent team at the weekend and wait monday to friday as the whole fun unravels.
Ethiad are inches away from filing a civil suit.
As Zurich has mentioned a couple of posts above, City's auditors, one of the giants of the business, won't let PL go away with implied accusations of them being a bunch of idiots unable to read through a supposed crocked balance sheet.
The Premier has just state the government would prefer to stay off this ordeal, BUT has stressed the point of how much beneficial the arrival of ADUG, either for Manchester and the English football industry.

It will take long, but the fun has just begun.
Enjoy the PL being obliged to present the trophy at season end, which will be the ultimate sporting piss take and trust the Club in pursuing showdown vindication in due time.

Keep calm, don't get depressed and carry on.

What do we know about Deloitte "seeking counsel" exactly? They only represented us in a small part during the time period. They audit arsenal, spurs and villa, as well as the league as a whole. Our auditors BDO only represent Everton and forest and they were both done for financial irregularities.

I wouldn't get our hopes up over Deloitte. They are in the auditing world red cartel, the top 4. BDO are essentially us, upstarts who have been trying to rock the boat and muscle in. Track record isn't looking too good there. Deloitte taking a look at things may not be the positive noise some think it is.

Agreed regarding the sponsorship deals, but there are some other dodgy things from the early yeas post takeover, that we might consider getting slapped for. E.g the Mancini double contract.

Due respect , but do you how many giants of the world economy Deloitte audit aside the football's red cabal, mate?

Many of these clients, btw, are listed on stock markets. They wouldn't be happy with their auditor being even remotely suspected of turning a blind eye on financial statements of just a football club. Because that's the point: Arse, Murderers and Munichs are just football clubs to them.

Also, re the Mancini and Yaya thing... I know fuck all of it, barring the accusation.

What I know is that to trace and prove an offshore payment, is probably the hardest task at hands of investigators of the calibre of Interpol or FBI, imagine those working for the PL.
I hardly can imagine an Abu Dhabi bank offering access to accounts that could potentially damage the ruling family. Never mind the Swiss or any other of the so called fiscal heavens.
For an instance I remember what a struggle was was, for the Italian judiciary, with full backing of Carla Delponte, then Swiss top prosecutor, to get access to accounts proven to be in the disposal of the Italian mafia!

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. But that's essentially my point, Deloitte represent a lot here and I read they're looking into this as in they'll be unhappy with city's accounting signed off by an auditing rival BDO and then submitted to themselves as auditors of the league. If Deloitte have accepted in good faith what BDO submitted through the league, it would put Deloitte in a bad light. So when I hear they're seeking counsel over this, my very uneducated guess is they're doing so not in the same defiant vein as Etihad are but very much in a defensive way and not wanting to be associated with what we've been found guilty of.

I got it you were clear, Kinky.
I don't remotely pretend to be an accountancy lecturer.
Still, I humbly disagree, my point being that whatever angle anyone wants to look at that, Deloitte reputation lays on being able to look into whatever accountancy tricks, misdemeanour or whatever, whether arising directly from clients or previous fellow professionals.

All in all, what I do expect is either BDO and Deloitte be very angry at the perception of them being unable to audit or cooperative with frauds.

Our appeal is supposedly going to be the sponsorship funds were backed up by UAE government money, not from mansour.

If that really is where we're going with this, we're fucked aren't we lads. Ah well, it's been a hell of a ride, up the fucking blues.

Nice one!

Sorry I read the "take 10 points deduction" and got angry and rushed to post

We wont be taken shit!! End of.

The whole 115 is largely etihad, which Ferrari confirms.

Mancini was paid to coach in Abu dhabi. And what? Prove he never went? ( he did).

Omg

NO because thays fucking fine.

I swear even blues are starting to wind me up.

Real world: owner has funded us.

Process world: he did it in compliance with red cartel unlawful ffp rules (with governance grants being granted to 3 sponsors) THAT COMPLIES with ffp ffs. The PL numptoes allege the owner paid etihad etc direct from his own bank account AND didnt know about it himself. Hahahahahaha

The BBC have finally removed the Man City banner link to the whole thing from the main football web page. I guess someone has had a word with them.
