In which case we would all love him to stay at the club. However, his contract is running down, next year he goes on a free, so it's about what the player wants and whether the club decides to cash in.
Personally if he wants to go i'd sell him for £100m or do a trade involving Vinny Junior, then look for a midfielder to accompany Anderson , Or get the left back Lewis Hall and move Nico into midfield.
and sell Savinho to Spurs.
If we are still in the mood, go for Livramento as well

If he signs, keep him. A fully fit Rodri is still worth more to City on the pitch than whatever fee we might get, especially when there is no obvious like-for-like replacement.
If he does not want to extend, sell him this summer. Letting a 30-year-old player with one year left walk for nothing would be poor squad planning, however good he has been for us.
I would ignore most of the Madrid, PSG and Barcelona noise until there is an actual bid. At the moment the only solid facts are that his contract expires in 2027, City want him to renew and his fitness needs to be managed after the back problem.
So: renew and stay, or refuse and go. The worst option is drifting into September without a decision.

Is like staying with someone just for the sake of the kids.

He has already been living in a hotel for 2 years getting ready for the move out, people can't see that a great many modern players couldn't give a fuck about the fans but the fans still seem to fawn over them.
They are not servants they get paid a kings ransom.

Definitely true about the money on offer to players. As a fan, we need to be more pragmaric and understand that unless you come through the ranks you have no allegiance other than to honour your contract and give it your all. We were spoilt with Pep, he was a big draw that helped in our recruitment.
At the end, it's a job for the players albeit a very well paid one.

Like that, to be honest. We are calling him out a bit also, whether we will refuse Madrid but accept PSG's offer. I really don't think Barcelona can afford what we're asking.

All Rodri has to do is throw a sickie for another year get himself fit for his next club and have a big payday. He holds all the cards.

That's up to him. Doubt he would do that as it does not look good on him but we cannot sell him if he does not want to go. We could put him up for sale to start a bidding war, but he would need to agree to going elewhere other than Franco's boys and it looks like that is the move he wants. Sad, but true.
